After Traumatic Experience With Bill Murray, Seth Green Shared The Advice Eddie Murphy Gave Him That Helped Him Move Forward

Back in my younger days, I had a chilling encounter with Bill Murray during one of my stints on Saturday Night Live at nine years old. He playfully picked me up by the ankles and swung me over a trash can – an incident that left me traumatized, seeking refuge in my dressing room. It’s an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone, but the words of wisdom from the legendary Eddie Murphy helped me navigate through those tough times.

Recently, Green reminisced about meeting Bill Murray during an interview with ComicBook.com – the actor who is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of his Adult Swim series, “Robot Chicken.” Looking back on the event, he expressed that he harbors no ill feelings towards Murray. Despite finding the experience somewhat frightening, Green recalls that night as a significant milestone in his life. He elaborated by saying that it was during this encounter that his life took a significant turn.

Since we’ve never crossed paths again, I have no grudges against him, which is quite ironic. Interestingly, that encounter was quite significant in my professional journey, even though it might seem odd. The truth is, I yearned to leave work that night, and the event left such an impact on me that I almost decided to quit the job.

Currently 51 years old, Seth Green made an appearance on Saturday Night Live during Bill Murray’s hosting stint in the 1981/1982 season. After a private interaction with the comedian left him emotionally drained, it was Eddie Murphy and Tim Kazurinsky who managed to persuade him to join the show.

In simpler terms, it was Eddie Murphy and Tim Kazurinsky, both quite young at the time, who took the effort to locate me and offer comfort. I’ll always remember Eddie saying something like, “Dude, don’t let anyone stop you from doing your work. The show needs to continue.

After that breakthrough, Seth Green has maintained his success in the entertainment world. He gained many admirers with his portrayal of Oz on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and has remained a fixture on TV for several decades, while also starring in films such as the Austin Powers trilogy, Idle Hands, and Can’t Hardly Wait. As a voice actor, he has voiced Chris Griffin in more than 400 episodes of Family Guy to date, and made his debut as Howard The Duck in Guardians Of The Galaxy in 2014 (a role he has reprised on numerous occasions since then).

If you’re hankering for some nostalgia and want to hang out with Seth Green once more, celebrate the anniversary of “Robot Chicken” – a series he co-created with Matthew Senreich – by streaming all 11 seasons on Hulu!
