Al Pacino Meets Pope Leo XIV, Becoming First Movie Star to Get an Audience With American Pontiff

Hollywood A-lister Al Pacino became the first movie star to meet with Pope Leo XIV.

On Monday, the 85-year-old met with the newly appointed American pope, following the demise of Pope Francis, within the confines of the Vatican. As per Italian news sources, Pacino traveled to Rome aboard a private plane from New York City over the weekend.

It is an honor for us to share that this morning, Pope Leo XIV had a private meeting at the Vatican with a team from the film ‘Maserati: The Brothers’, which includes Academy Award-winning actor Al Pacino and producer Andrea Iervolino. This was shared in a statement given to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ by Mr. Iervolino himself.

The meeting, the producer noted, was a deeply moving and culturally enriching experience. He explained that the conversation revolved around values that are fundamental to both the Catholic Church and the movie – these being family togetherness, affection, kindness, and the significance of promoting community welfare.

He went on to say: “The principles that Pope Leo XIV has repeatedly underscored in his recent global communications echo powerfully within the tale of the Maserati siblings. This family’s enduring legacy was forged not just on groundbreaking ideas and superior quality, but also on deep-rooted respect, unity, and a collective vision.

It’s been recently verified that Pacino is now part of Bobby Moresco’s movie crew, playing the character Vincenzo Vaccaro – a business magnate who was among the initial backers of the automotive empire.

The cast for the movie being filmed in Italy is finalized, with Gina La Piana, Tatiana Luter, Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia, Jessica Alba, Michele Morrone, and Salvatore Esposito among the actors involved.
