Alec and Hilaria Baldwin Reveal How Filming ‘The Baldwins’ Reality Series During ‘Rust’ Case Was “Like a Diary”

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin are revealing how their family came together during a tragedy.

In 2021, while filming the western movie “Rust”, Alec found himself handling a prop gun that unexpectedly discharged. Despite his claim that he didn’t pull the trigger, the bullet fatally wounded Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer, and injured Joel Souza, the director. This unfortunate incident resulted in a trial for involuntary manslaughter against Alec, which was dismissed the following year. Interestingly, just before his trial, Alec and his wife chose to share their private life on camera for an upcoming reality TV series called “The Baldwins”. In a recent issue of “People”, they spoke about why they decided to film their most personal moments during such a challenging time.

Hilaria expressed that the conversation offered a chance for genuine dialogue and she described it as a secure environment. Additionally, she suggested it was therapeutic, similar to keeping a diary, during a period of great uncertainty in our lives. This conversation, although terrifying at times, also provided a sense of hope and helped us cope with each day.

For Alec, the show was not just a professional opportunity, but a way to spend more quality time with his and Hilaria’s seven children. He reflected, “Instead of doing a movie or a play, we chose this show. Now I wonder if I’ll be away from my kids five nights a week until late at night. In the past, work was important, but these days, it’s not as crucial. What matters most to me is spending time with my family.

Alec mentioned that the encouragement from his spouse was instrumental in his progress. “Each day, we’re embracing thankfulness,” he expressed. “Even the smallest joys of existence can provide solace during challenging times.

The reality show will present the Baldwin couple engaging in various thought-provoking conversations. “Throughout the series, The Baldwins will provide amusing dinner table banter along with heartfelt discussions on mental health and their constantly changing parenting methods. The show offers a glimpse into the true nature of the Baldwin family — chaotic, humorous, exhausting yet filled with love,” reads the official description. “Alec and Hilaria’s relationship as a couple will be highlighted, featuring instances that underscore their strong bond as they collaborate in overcoming obstacles together. With seven kids living under one roof, the Baldwin household is never lacking excitement, but despite the constant activity, Alec and Hilaria radiate an inspiring enthusiasm, demonstrating to viewers the charm of nurturing a family that’s far from typical.

The Baldwins will premiere on TLC on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 10 p.m.
