As a long-time gamer and avid follower of Hollywood news, I can’t help but be intrigued by the recent developments in the Alec Baldwin case. I remember being shocked when I first heard about the fatal shooting on the set of “Rust,” and the revelations that have come to light since then have only deepened my fascination with this story.

Alec Baldwin might consider filing a civil rights complaint against Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office due to investigative errors that resulted in the dismissal of their involuntary manslaughter case against him on July 12, 2022. The New Mexico judge terminated the case against Baldwin as prosecutors repeatedly neglected to share evidence related to the fatal shooting incident on the set of his movie “Rust.” According to Variety, Alex Spiro, one of Baldwin’s lawyers, has sent letters to Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza and special prosecutor Kari Morrissey, urging them to save any relevant evidence for potential further legal action.

The letter asks for this action due to the possibility of legal disputes that could arise from your involvement in Mr. Baldwin’s criminal case. As stated by Albuquerque lawyer Taylor Smith in an interview with Variety, there is a strong incentive for Mr. Baldwin to file a civil lawsuit.

This is open and shut in my mind. I would love to take this case.

On October 21, 2021, during the filming of “Rust,” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was tragically killed when a gun held by actor Alec Baldwin discharged, unintentionally striking her with a live bullet. Director Joel Souza was also injured but managed to recover. Authorities are investigating Baldwin’s handling of firearms on set as a potential factor in Hutchins’ death. Additionally, allegations have surfaced that the production’s limited budget may have resulted in subpar safety protocols contributing to this unfortunate accident.

I have worked as a legal assistant for several years now, and I strongly believe that justice should be consistent and fair for everyone. In light of the recent developments in the Alec Baldwin case, where the charges against him for involuntary manslaughter were dismissed due to alleged production industry oversights and lack of clear intent, I find it only just that the same considerations be extended to Hannah Gutierrez-Reed’s case.

Why Was The Case Against Alec Baldwin Dismissed?

Judge Mary Mar Marlowe Sommer didn’t throw out the case against Baldwin due to a minor lapse in disclosing evidence. Instead, she identified several problems with the prosecutors’ conduct that influenced her ruling. The tipping point occurred when it was discovered that investigators for the Sheriff’s office had bullets related to the incident, which included both live and blank rounds. However, only blank rounds were meant to be used on set. This crucial information would have supported Baldwin’s defense that he wasn’t responsible for the shooting.

When the charges against me in New Mexico were dropped permanently, it gave more weight to any potential lawsuits I could file. I have options to sue under the New Mexico Civil Rights Act, the state Tort Claims Act, or even the federal Civil Rights Act of 1871 for compensation.

As a gamer, I can tell you that the production of “Rust” came to a halt following an unfortunate incident involving a shooting. However, we managed to pick up the pieces and resume filming last year. Now, the team behind “Rust” is on the hunt for a distributor to bring this movie to the big screen. No official release date has been shared with us gamers yet.
