As a lifestyle expert, I am deeply moved by Alia Bhatt’s inspiring journey and her courage to open up about her struggles with body image issues. Her story is a testament to the fact that even celebrities, who seem perfect from the outside, can face the same insecurities as the rest of us.
Alia Bhatt first appeared in Bollywood back in 2012 as part of Karan Johar’s Student of the Year production. Since then, she has consistently shone in every role she’s taken on. Recognized for adapting to each character uniquely, Bhatt recently revealed her battles with body image concerns after joining the acting world. The actress who played Jigra, candidly admitted that despite losing weight, she still struggled with these issues. Furthermore, Bhatt expressed that her friends would suggest diets to her, but she persistently faced difficulties in accepting herself.
During an interview with Allure Magazine, Alia Bhatt looked back on her career beginnings in the film industry and shared her experiences. As a plump, carefree child, she was comfortable with her appearance. However, once she started acting, her perception of herself shifted. She confessed to having body image issues, even after losing weight. “Ever since then, I’ve battled with body-image concerns. No matter how much weight I shed, I still felt insecure. My pals would advise me, ‘Alia, you should stop dieting. Relax, enjoy life, and eat some food.’ But inside my mind, I used to think, ‘Once a chubby kid, always a chubby kid.'” This was the inner dialogue she had, regardless of how much weight she managed to lose.
Throughout her pregnancy, Bhatt underwent a transformation in her outlook. She expressed that she gained a profound appreciation for her body and was captivated by its abilities. This awareness caused her to comprehend that even being involved in the industry, she would no longer judge her appearance or worry about excess weight or a distended stomach.
At a previous gathering organized by We The Women Global Townhall, Alia opened up about her struggles with body image concerns. She, a renowned actress from Alpha, disclosed that the limelight has taken a toll on her psychological well-being. She admitted to being overly self-critical when it comes to her eating habits, weight, and looks, attributing this to the continuous scrutiny she experiences due to her frequent appearances in front of cameras.
In terms of her professional life, she will soon appear in a film titled Jigra. Additionally, she has upcoming projects including Alpha and Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
