As a long-time fan of the Alien franchise, I am beyond excited for the release of Alien: Romulus. The original Alien film is one of my all-time favorites, and the new trailer only solidifies my anticipation. The return to the horror roots of the series, with its iconic body horror and terrifying alien creatures, has me on the edge of my seat.
A new installment in the “Alien” series, titled “Alien: Romulus,” has unveiled its final trailer. This fresh addition returns to the franchise’s terrifying roots, focusing on a band of young space settlers investigating an abandoned spacecraft. Unbeknownst to them, they will soon face the gruesome alien creatures, the Xenomorphs. The movie serves as a self-contained story with events transpiring between “Alien” (1979) and “Aliens” (1986).
The movie begins with the group discovering a ship in disrepair, where they unexpectedly find a group of alien embryos. As events unfold, the characters are pursued relentlessly by otherworldly creatures throughout the vessel. The footage showcases typical gore and body transformations that the series is known for, featuring aliens attacking faces and bursting from chests. Towards the end, viewers catch a sneak peek of a fully-grown Xenomorph in its frightening entirety. The film, helmed by Fede Alvarez both as director and writer, boasts an impressive cast including Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, and newcomers Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu, all teased in the trailer.
Starting August 16, “Alien: Romulus” can be watched at cinemas nationwide in various formats including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, ScreenX, and regular screenings. Pre-purchase your tickets through Fandango or at ticket outlets near you.
