Alyssa Milano Honors ‘Charmed’ Co-Star Shannen Doherty: “My Condolences to All Who Loved Her”

As a fan who has followed the careers of Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty for many years, I’m deeply saddened by the news of Shannen’s passing. Their complex relationship is something that has always intrigued me, and it’s heartbreaking to see how their bond turned sour over the years.

Alyssa Milano honored her late “Charmed” colleague, Shannen Doherty, in a heartfelt tribute after her passing was announced on Sunday.

“Openly acknowledged, Shannen and I had a complex connection. Beneath it all, she was someone I held in high esteem and admiration. She was an exceptional actress, cherished by countless fans, and the world is poorer without her presence. My sympathies go out to everyone who treasured her.”

The relationship between the two actresses was far from simple, with rumors of a long-standing feud emerging as early as their collaboration on “Charmed” two decades ago, alongside Holly Marie Combs. Last December, Doherty and Combs accused Milano of being behind Doherty’s dismissal from the USA series in 2001, during which her character, Prue, was written off. Milano apparently orchestrated Rose McGowan’s entry into the cast to replace Doherty.

Milano later denied the claims, calling them “revisionist history” in a February Instagram post.

Doherty replied once more, stating that they had merely spoken the truth since “the truth holds significance.”

Actress Doherty, famous for her part on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” passed away on Saturday. She initially battled breast cancer in March 2015 and underwent treatment and surgeries, only to share her recovery in April 2017. However, she disclosed the return of cancer in February 2020 and later announced in June 2023 that it had progressed to her brain.
