The Chosen is getting a streaming home in the United States.
Through a comprehensive agreement with Dallas Jenkins‘ production company, 5&2 Studios, Amazon Prime Video gains exclusive rights to stream a series centered around the life of Jesus within the United States. Additionally, Amazon MGM Studios will handle the distribution of cinematic releases for significant episodes from the final two seasons in theaters. Furthermore, Amazon has secured an initial deal for future series and film projects with 5&2 Studios.
Amazon Prime Video has additionally commissioned an unscripted show titled “The Chosen in the Wild: Adventures with Bear Grylls“, where the cast, along with Jenkins, will embark on wilderness expeditions alongside Grylls.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed excitement about collaborating with Dallas and 5&2 Studios on a broader level regarding ‘The Chosen’, a production that has garnered widespread acclaim over the years. He also mentioned their vision for expanding faith-based content offerings to Prime Video subscribers worldwide.
2023 rolled around and I, as a gamer, found myself in the middle of some exciting news. Lionsgate, my new go-to for movie releases, had secured distribution rights to The Chosen. Behind the scenes, they were busy negotiating a licensing deal that would bring this epic production to our screens.
CAA and Andrew Kramer from Willkie Farr stepped up to represent 5&2 Studios in these negotiations. They worked tirelessly to ensure a fair agreement for all parties involved, keeping the gaming community like me in mind as they strived to bring us another fantastic film experience.
Previous installments of “The Chosen” can be found streaming on Amazon Prime Video, with other platforms having aired it previously too. The latest agreement grants exclusive rights to all U.S. seasons, including the three upcoming ones. The fifth season will have its theatrical release on March 28, followed by its arrival on Amazon Prime Video in June.
Jenkins expressed that for quite some time, Amazon MGM Studios’ team has repeatedly demonstrated their enthusiasm for this series and it resonates with our audience. They will undoubtedly enhance our work and expand its reach, and I am eager to nurture this partnership.
Speaking as a dedicated fan, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the partnership between Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate for “The Chosen.” This expansive, global deal offers an extraordinary chance to further connect with the devoted fanbase of this beloved series while also captivating viewers worldwide.
Under the terms of this arrangement, Amazon MGM will distribute full-length episodes related to the story of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection as part of the concluding seasons of The Chosen. In addition, Dan Jenkins and 5&2 Studios will create new series and movie projects, with a preference for Amazon under their first-look agreement.
