As a long-time gamer and avid fan of both literature and television, I couldn’t be more excited about Prime Video’s upcoming adaptation of “Fourth Wing”! The news that Moira Walley-Beckett has joined the project as showrunner is truly a game changer.
As a passionate gamer and an avid fan of fantasy novels, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about the upcoming television adaptation of “Fourth Wing” on Prime Video. I’ve been eagerly waiting for this project to gain some momentum, and now it has with Moira Walley-Beckett at the helm as showrunner.
Moira Walley-Beckett has been announced as the new showrunner for Amazon Prime Video’s “Fourth Wing” series production, based on Rebecca Yarros’ original work. The project, a collaboration between Amazon MGM and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, started development in October 2023. Walley-Beckett will also produce the show alongside Yarros, Jordan, Raposo, Agosto, and Pelletier.
Fourth Wing Could Be the Next TV Fantasy Epic
I discovered “Fourth Wing” back in April 2023, and let me tell you, it took the gaming world by storm. The hype around it really picked up after it gained popularity on TikTok. And get this – it’s been gracing the New York Times Best Seller List for an entire year now!
Walley-Beckett is certainly a major get for Fourth Wing in terms of talent behind the scenes. Originally an actress, she pivoted to writing and joined Breaking Bad in Season 2 as a story editor, eventually getting promoted to writer and co-producer. She wrote some of the most beloved episodes of Breaking Bad, including “Fly” and “Ozymandias,” the latter of which has been called one of the best episodes of television ever made by fans and critics alike. She went on to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for “Ozymandias.”
Later on, Walley-Becket was responsible for developing “Flesh and Bone” for Starz, as well as “Anne With an E” for CBC and Netflix. The latter series gained critical acclaim and continued for three seasons. With its dragons, romance, and dedicated fanbase, “Fourth Wing” holds the potential to become Prime Video’s next major success story, potentially surpassing the popularity of “House of the Dragon” from HBO, or even outshine “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.”
