Amber Ruffin got a raw deal.
As a passionate cinephile, I found myself once engaged, only to be let go, by the esteemed White House Correspondents Association to host their grand April gala.
In their announcement for the cancellation, the White House Correspondents’ Association failed to include Ruffin’s name. Neither did anyone from the allegedly dishonest organization provide an explanation as to why she was initially selected for the recognition, only to be dismissed later on.
She deserves better. That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be a train wreck on the night in question.
Regarding political leanings, Ruffin is exceptionally progressive even among liberal circles, often acting as a provocative commentator. He’s known for his satire that predominantly targets a specific group, which is not the desired image for the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) on their most prestigious night of the year.
For instance, Ruffin had an outburst resembling a public temper tantrum during her appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” recently. Furthermore, she referenced one of the most significant fabricated news incidents from the last ten years in the course of this display.
She never should have been tapped for the WHCA gig in the first place.
On “Late Night”, Amber Ruffin playfully remarked that she had been let go by the White House Correspondents’ Association, with Seth Meyers then stepping in to support her.
She stated, ‘Our media is independent, allowing us to socialize cordially with Republicans at formal gatherings. This is according to the First Amendment’s principles.’

Newsbusters posted their interaction with the liberal-leaning Meyers, an exchange that seemed more about ideology than humor or enlightenment.
The pair, working together, argued that making fun of someone trying to steal from a convenience store in New York City is “controversial.
Why? Because the WHCA said hiring a political comic this year would also be “divisive.”
Laughing yet?
However, it doesn’t fit the situation at hand. For instance, consider a harmless grocery store owner and a thief.
ORIGINAL STATEMENT: MEYERS: But that doesn’t make sense in this case. You know, there’s an innocent bodega owner, there’s a burglar.
RUFFIN: Or hear me out, there are very fine people on both sides. [emphasis added]
MEYERS: Yeah, but he shattered the front door of a bodega.
RUFFIN: Did he or did he provide an innovative ventilation system?
MEYERS: Yeah, but he stole the cash out of the register.
RUFFIN: He received a microloan.
MEYERS: He set fire to the ATM.
RUFFIN: He bravely fought inflation. Thank you for your service.
I firmly believe that satire resonates most effectively when it’s grounded in truth. However, Ruffin opted for a different route. In my opinion, the media appears to be excessively and comically biased against President Donald Trump. To claim anything else seems preposterous, almost laughable.
Furthermore, Ruffin employed the “phony ‘very fine people’ incident” to criticize Trump. This claim has been discredited by rational individuals everywhere, but continues to be a recurring topic among liberal circles living in their echo chambers. Even former President Barack Obama used it against Trump as recently as last October.
Even the far-Left Snopes called it out, albeit years after the event in question.
(That was no accident)
Still confused? No worries. This video explains it all.
Why does Ruffin keep resurfacing this hoax? It suggests either a lack of intelligence or disregard for the fact that it’s based on a fabricated story.
A more suitable choice might have been not inviting the comedian in the first instance, instead of subsequently withdrawing the invitation from the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA).
