In a delightful twist, the humorous podcast “Hot White Heist 2,” starring Bowen Yang, Jane Lynch, Cynthia Nixon, among others, topped the nominations for the Ambie Awards, garnering four recognitions, with one being Podcast of the Year.
Additionally nominated for Podcast of the Year are “99% Invisible: Not Built For This”, “Beyond All Repair”, “Cement City”, “Dragon Age: Vows & Vengeance”, “Empire City: The Untold Origin Story of the NYPD”, “Faraway”, “Fire Escape”, and “Throughline”.
These are the other contenders for the prestigious award.
The Podcast Academy is presenting awards to 199 nominees distributed among 28 different categories and a special Governor’s Award. This year, they have added a new category for “Best Spanish Language Storytelling Podcast.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited to share that this year, the hilarious Tig Notaro is taking the stage as host for our annual awards event happening on March 31! The venue? None other than the iconic McCormick Convention Center in Chicago. But
Notaro expressed her enthusiasm about hosting The Podcast Academy’s 5th Annual Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Audio. She compared it to the Oscars but with a twist – honoring those who excel at speaking into a microphone while cozily dressed in sweatpants and propped against pillows on window sills. That one’s for you, Meryl! And Meryl, if you’re listening, would you consider being a guest on my podcast?
In the previous year, “Slow Burn: Becoming Justice Thomas” earned the title of Podcast of the Year. This captivating podcast, led by Slate staff writer Joel Anderson, delves into the journey of Clarence Thomas’s ascent to power.
In our fifth year of recognizing outstanding achievement in podcasting through the Awards for Excellence in Audio, we are delighted to unveil this year’s nominees, whose work consistently pushes the limits of storytelling and innovation within the audio realm,” stated Christy Mirabal, chairperson of The Podcast Academy. “This significant year for The Podcast Academy showcases the remarkable progression and creativity flourishing within the podcasting community. Moreover, we are absolutely ecstatic to have Tig Notaro host The Ambies—her quick wit, captivating charm, and comedic genius will undoubtedly breathe new life into this memorable event. By coming together, we celebrate the multifaceted talents that contribute to audio’s profound impact and eagerly anticipate a night filled with inspiration!
