Actress Ameesha Patel is well-known for her successful career in Bollywood, having starred in numerous popular films such as “Gadar” and its sequel. Recently, she disclosed a startling event from the set of “Gadar” where she resorted to physically disciplining men due to inappropriate conduct in large crowds. The actress further stated that such incidents are not uncommon for women in busy public spaces.
During a chat with Filmy Mantra, Ameesha Patel shared a startling event that took place while filming Gadar. When prompted about awkward experiences in bustling areas such as Amritsar, she admitted to experiencing unwelcome conduct.
She mentioned that it frequently occurs for women and young girls when they’re in congested areas. It’s not due to her being an actress or having a public presence; instead, it’s just because she is a woman.
The actress from Gadar emphasized the importance of changing the mentality that tolerates such behavior in large groups, instead encouraging respectful conduct.
Ameesha continued to discuss her experiences with unwanted conduct at public gatherings. She disclosed instances where men, surrounded by many others, attempted to exploit the situation, revealing that she had no qualms about retaliating when necessary.
The actress remarked, “I’ve rejected and struck back at such advances. I believe each woman has the right to do so, as self-protection is an inherent birthright. Regardless of whether it’s a stranger, relative, or friend, if a woman is inappropriately touched, she should defend herself.
Ameesha Patel discussed an event that occurred during the shooting of Gadar in Amritsar. She reminisced about a huge assembly of approximately 20,000 people gathering at a genuine train station. While filming a crucial scene for her character, Sakina, she got swept up in the pandemonium.
During an intense emotional scene, the actress found herself unexpectedly noticing unacceptable conduct from the audience. Repulsed, she swiftly addressed it, leading the crew to impose firm measures. Later on, Ameesha mentioned that following this incident, immediate police protection was provided, and action director Tinu Verma made sure her safety was maintained for the rest of the filming.
In that same captivating chat, I, a die-hard fan, found myself moved by Ameesha’s candid confessions regarding my all-time favorites, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Gadar. She bravely shared how, as a fresh face in the industry, I didn’t command much for those groundbreaking roles. When prodded about the specific figures, she gracefully demurred, expressing her concern for not wanting to mortify her dear producers.
Initially, the actress kept the figure quiet, but later on, she disclosed that she had only earned 2 lakhs. To make matters worse, this sum didn’t even cover her makeup expenses throughout the three years. Interestingly, she believes that a paycheck is not an accurate gauge of talent and one should never equate their self-worth with their salary.
