Yet surprisingly, the latest poll revealed that the standout theme park in America isn’t Disney’s Magic Kingdom or Universal Studios; instead, it’s Silver Dollar City located in Branson, Missouri.
A few years back, I had the pleasure of setting foot in Silver Dollar City for the first time, and let me tell you, I now comprehend why USA Today deemed it the best theme park. It’s an extraordinary location. It caters not only to thrill-seeking roller coaster enthusiasts with its array of awe-inspiring coasters but also offers delectable cuisine and boasts an outstanding design. To make things even more exciting, Silver Dollar City is set to evolve into a full-fledged theme park resort, with a Silver Dollar City hotel slated for completion in 2026.
Silver Dollar City Is Becoming A True Theme Park Resort
In the year 2021, Silver Dollar City acquired approximately 800 acres of unbuilt land that adjoins the park. An earlier plan for a resort was abandoned, allowing Silver Dollar City to seize the opportunity. Ever since then, fans have been speculating about its intentions for the property.
Silver Dollar City recently made an exciting announcement: they’re building the Silver Dollar City Resort, a hotel with 262 rooms conveniently located near the theme park. Plus, it will feature a top-notch restaurant for guests to dine at, given that SDC is renowned for its delicious theme park cuisine. Needless to say, visitors are eager to sample the meals offered at this on-site eatery!
It’s hard to overstate how fantastic this news is. Upon my visit, it was evident that one key aspect Silver Dollar City lacked was a hotel. Situated amidst the stunning Ozark Mountains, the park boasts some of the most breathtaking views among all theme parks globally. Unfortunately, the advantage of such a location also meant there were no nearby hotels.
The resort will make Silver Dollar City a true destination.
Even More Is On The Way To One Of America’s Best Theme Parks
The resort is part of a half-billion-dollar investment in Silver Dollar City over the next decade that will develop over 1200 acres of land. The most recent addition to the park was a from-the-ground-up new version of Fire in the Hole, the park’s iconic dark ride coaster.
Though only the resort has been confirmed so far, it’s evident that a substantial project spanning the next ten years is underway at Silver Dollar City, marked by a significant investment. It’s highly probable that the theme park will witness an extensive expansion, potentially featuring prominent roller coasters among other attractions. This growth promises to make Silver Dollar City an even more compelling destination for visitors.
Silver Dollar City Resort is expected to open in late 2026.
