As a gamer, I’ve been admiring Eric Koston for more than a decade now. He’s been a prominent face of Nike SB, starring in campaigns, collaborating on powerful footwear projects, and even leading his own signature shoe line. It’s incredible to see how he’s been shaping the division, guiding it with his expertise.
One storyline we’ve been following closely is the skate-focused iteration of Nike SB’s Air Max 95, which is being released for the shoe’s 30th anniversary. We’ve had a sneak peek at an early “Cactus Flower” colorway and now have an in-hand preview of a “Obsidian/Speed Yellow” design, specifically dedicated to Koston. This version also caters to skaters with modifications and boasts a University of Michigan-inspired color scheme. Notably, the shoe bears “koston” branding on the tongue tag at the right side and Nike SB logos at the heel and outsole. Additionally, the design includes Thai script that translates to “Nike” at the lateral toe, acknowledging Koston’s birthplace in Thailand.
As I write this, neither Eric Koston nor the Nike SB team have given any hint about the release date for their joint project on the SB Air Max 95. Keep an eye out for announcements, including sneak peeks of the shoes, as we anticipate they’ll be available by the end of the year, exclusively through Nike SNKRS and select retailers, starting at $190 USD.
