Nightreign boasts some impressive equipment rewards. At times, you might feel inclined to let others test out this gear, while still wanting to utilize it yourself. Fortunately, a gear duplication bug simplifies the process of sharing loot, as long as it remains in the game.
I initially came across this solution courtesy of PC Gamer, who provided a concise walkthrough on addressing the duplication issue. To put it in simpler terms, if two players attempt to grab the same weapon simultaneously, both players will end up with that weapon. This results in an original and a copy. (For clarity’s sake, don’t worry about which one is the original as it may cause confusion.)
As a gamer, I’d say this task isn’t overly complex, it’s quite repeatable without any significant consequences if you stumble. If the timing on your pick-up goes awry, no worries, just give it another shot. However, be cautious as you’re essentially pausing in one spot and executing a drop-and-pick-up strategy, which isn’t usually wise in Nightreign. The moments of tranquility between days or the pristine niche before the Nightlord confrontation might be the ideal times for this maneuver.
It’s important to note that while PC Gamer mentioned it, others have also discovered this trick earlier. Numerous YouTube channels and Reddit posts discuss the simple method for duplicating items. Essentially, word has spread about this exploit.
It’s unclear if FromSoftware plans to modify it, but given its specialized nature, it might not be a priority. The game lacks voice chat or other means to communicate with random online players, making it difficult to coordinate strategies or share high-quality equipment.
For teams collaborating via Discord or similar platforms, it’s essential to possess equipment that other characters may desire as well. In my experience, Elden Ring: Nightreign is quite generous with item drops. Each character has unique preferences for weapons, so acquiring a diverse arsenal can be advantageous, unless you’re consistently finding Ironeyes, in which case, it seems like your luck might be exceptional!
The duplicate bug is beneficial for characters looking to have twice as many specific weapons, such as the Executor, but it’s not a guaranteed win strategy. For some amusement and possibly redistributing weapons if someone hasn’t obtained any good ones by the last day, it could be a less-than-ideal yet useful trick to remember.
