As a seasoned movie enthusiast who’s had the pleasure of witnessing countless action-packed cinematic adventures, I must say that the impending release of ‘Ballerina’ has me absolutely thrilled! Having followed Ana de Armas‘ career since her breakout role in ‘Knives Out’, it’s fascinating to see how she’s evolved into a versatile actress capable of taking on demanding roles such as this one.
Set against the backdrop of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum”, the movie “Ballerina” by Lionsgate focuses on Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), as she embarks on her education in the assassin practices of the Ruska Roma. The poster, showcasing her tattooed back from behind, draws inspiration from the film’s trailer’s vibrant purple and blue tones, which you can view below.
How Ana de Armas & Keanu Reeves Joined ‘Ballerina’
In regard to the film “Ballerina”, Erica Lee from Thunder Road Productions shared with MovieWeb how Ana de Armas became part of the project and played a significant role in securing Keanu Reeves’ participation. According to Lee, they initially contacted de Armas through her agents, as she was an ardent fan of the franchise. At that stage, it was uncertain whether Keanu would be involved in the movie. Lee further mentioned:
In essence, we visited Ana and she was quite fond of Len [Wiseman’s] approach for the film, expressing her desire to star in action roles. When we discussed involving Keanu Reeves in the project, Ana, who has a long-standing relationship with him, helped facilitate contact, saying something like, “Let’s make this happen, it’ll be fun.” As a result, she played a significant role in sparking Keanu’s enthusiasm for the movie. Given that Ana is a favorite of Keanu’s, I believe her involvement in Ballerina significantly increased his excitement for the project.
Although it seems Keanu Reeves won’t attend São Paulo, stars and director Len Wiseman will present an extended segment during the panel instead. Lionsgate plans to release a two-minute online version of this extended segment following the panel, so keep an eye out on our updates this Sunday evening for that.
