Ananya Panday admits being ‘scared’ when she got her 1st period; reveals what her mom and dadi did after that

As a dedicated follower of Bollywood, I have had the privilege to witness the remarkable journey of Ananya Panday. Her story resonates with me deeply, not just because she is a brilliant actress, but due to her courage to share personal experiences and challenge societal norms.

Actress Ananya Panday has made significant strides in her Bollywood journey and keeps climbing higher. Renowned for her acting skills, stylish demeanor, and openness about significant issues, she recently disclosed her first-period experience. She described the initial fear she felt but also fondly remembered the reassuring gesture of her mother, Bhavana Panday, and grandmother, who presented her with gifts to mark the special occasion.

In an interview with News18, Ananya Panday discusses how limited conversations about menstruation at home and school perpetuate the associated stigma. As an older sibling, she recalls that there was little discussion when she started menstruating, as some of her classmates had already experienced it but chose to keep it hidden.

She shared, “When I experienced my first menstruation at school, I was baffled as no one had ever talked to me about it before. At home, I became quite fearful, thinking I might have injured myself or that there was something abnormal happening to me.

Instead, the actress from “Chand Mera Dil,” crediting her mother, Bhavana Pandey, for assisting her in overcoming embarrassment, revealed that they celebrated this moment rather than making it a source of shame. She even shared how her mom and grandmother presented gifts to her as a way of erasing the stigma associated with it.

She mentioned that her mother and grandmother had given her presents and expressed it as a time to rejoice, which she did. She feels this optimistic perspective is something everyone should strive for.

In addition to discussing other topics, Ananya candidly talks about the challenges female actors encounter while menstruating, particularly when filming outdoors without adequate restroom amenities. Looking back at her early career, she recalled an instance where a colleague inquired if she continued working during that time.

The actress shared that, frequently, there’s no option except to persevere. Occasionally, she feels well and hardly detects her menstrual cycle, but on other occasions, limited access to restrooms and needing to wear particular costumes can make the situation considerably more challenging for her.

Ananya Panday emphasizes the significance of honest conversation during tough situations on set. She underscores that no one should let embarrassment stand in their way, and she motivates women to express themselves freely.

Directly addressing an issue with the leader or team, such as when requiring a clean restroom, often yields significant results in her personal experience. She’s found that expressing one’s needs usually leads to resolutions, even though it might make certain individuals uncomfortable initially.

Ananya underscores the significance of schools promoting understanding about menstruation. Over the course of her academic career, her school incorporated a health curriculum that provided education to both male and female students on the topic of menstrual cycles and the bodily transformations experienced by women.

She advocates for incorporating this type of education into the school curriculum, making certain that both home and educational institutions deliver appropriate knowledge. Additionally, the actress emphasizes the shift in circumstances when her sister first had her period, as she herself was already educated about menstruation.

From my perspective as a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that professionally, I’m gearing up for a series of exhilarating projects, commencing with “Chand Mera Dil.” This captivating production, under the esteemed banner of Dharma Productions, finds me sharing the screen with Lakshya.

Additionally, she will appear in an unnamed Dharma production alongside Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan, portraying the life story of C. Sankaran Nair. Expectedly, this highly anticipated film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 14, 2025.
