As a dedicated follower and admirer of Ananya Panday, I find her journey both inspiring and thought-provoking. Her candidness about the challenges she faces as an actress, particularly when it comes to addressing political and sensitive issues, resonates deeply with me.
Bollywood actress Ananya Panday has revealed that her latest web series, “Call Me Bae,” delves into issues surrounding the MeToo movement, which she finds difficult to discuss in everyday life. Expressing her sentiments, she stated, “As an actress, I sometimes feel powerless because people advise me not to get too involved in political matters or express certain opinions.” She also admitted that she is easily swayed by others’ views.
At the India Today Mind Rocks Youth Summit 2024, Ananya Panday shared about the hurdles she encounters as an actress, admitting a sense of powerlessness when told to avoid discussing political or delicate matters. She underscored the significance of matching her work with her ethical and societal convictions, even though she sometimes feels restricted.
Apart from her previous remarks, she additionally mentioned that although she hasn’t had the chance to talk openly about the MeToo movement, she’s thrilled that her new show, Call Me Bae, tackles this topic. She expressed, “In Call Me Bae, I won’t reveal too much, but it touches upon a realm that supports women, female empowerment, and the MeToo issue. Since I may not have been able to speak about this matter directly due to various constraints, I feel that expressing it through my work carries a significant weight.
Apart from sharing that she avoids roles contradicting her personal values because of their possible effect on others, Ananya Panday also highlighted the significance of being cautious when selecting projects, recognizing the potential for easy influence.
The actress from Call Me Bae spoke about the difficulties of expressing opinions because of societal expectations, stressing her dedication to honesty. She clarified that even though she doesn’t feel compelled to voice her thoughts on every matter, she stands firm in supporting causes that are important to her. Women’s safety in India holds a special importance for her, and she aims to make a difference by taking relevant actions.
The eight-episode series titled “Call Me Bae” boasts an array of talented actors such as Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur.
