As a dedicated follower of Bollywood, I must say that Ananya Panday has truly come into her own this year. From facing constant trolling and scrutiny in her early days to being taken more seriously as an actor, it’s been a journey to watch. Her performance in Call Me Bae and CTRL was nothing short of impressive, and it’s clear that she poured her heart and soul into those projects.
18-year-old Ananya Panday initially experienced harsh criticism for her acting debut, but now the viewers’ perception of her has shifted positively. The actress attributes this change to her performances in the widely acclaimed web series “Call Me Bae” and the film “CTRL”, which have earned her more respect as an actor.
In a recent chat with Grazia India, Ananya Panday shared insights about the significant impact the releases of “Call Me Bae” and “CTRL” have had on her career trajectory in 2024.
Speaking about his recent projects “CTRL” and “Call Me Bae”, Panday shared, “I sense that people are treating me with more respect as an actor now. I filmed both these ventures last year, so this year has been a delightful experience, witnessing the culmination of my hard work.
In addition to her career, the actress, aged 26, finds herself feeling more at ease with who she is in 2024. She’s learned to accept herself wholeheartedly following the challenges she encountered during her early twenties.
In contemporary times, Ananya, who’s been appearing in films addressing present-day topics such as the downsides of social media and AI development, thinks that the definition of being a star has evolved. She pointed out that an actor’s stardom isn’t limited to box office performances on Fridays anymore. Instead, it encompasses the impact made across various emerging platforms.
Previously, referring to a famous actor as a ‘star’ was common, but given the rise of various online platforms, individuals can now rightfully claim the title of ‘social media star’, as Ananya pointed out.
Nevertheless, she conceded that even with the changes, superstars will retain an unmistakable allure. People like herself will still find themselves awestruck in their presence.
For the benefit of those who may not be aware, Ananya Panday made her Bollywood debut alongside Tara Sutaria and Tiger Shroff in Student Of The Year 2. Since then, she has also appeared in movies such as Pati, Patni Aur Woh, Gehraaiyan, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Dream Girl 2, and Liger.
She was most recently spotted acting alongside Vihaan Samat in Vikramaditya Motwane’s movie titled “CTRL.” This actress boasts an engaging slate of upcoming ventures, including a yet-untitled film by Dharma Productions featuring Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan, which is inspired by the life story of C. Sankaran Nair. Furthermore, she has the film “Chand Mera Dil” in her future projects alongside Lakshya.
