As a lifestyle expert who values growth and self-discovery, I find Ananya Panday’s journey intriguing. Her candid conversation with her father, Chunky Panday, offers a glimpse into their unique bond and the challenges they face as a film industry family.
Success and failures of films are a part of an actor’s career, and often, they lead to important realizations for them. Recently, Ananya Panday shared how she has had the most disagreements with her father and actor, Chunky Panday, over their contrasting film choices. Further, she revealed she blames him for making her do Liger, one of the biggest flops in her career, and admits she was ‘upset’ over its failure at the box office window.
I recently had an open chat with my dear father, Chunky Panday, on the We Are Yuvaa YouTube channel. Known for our affectionate and lively interactions, we dished out some valuable nuggets about our relationship during this heartfelt discussion.
In our recent chat, Ananya confided that it seems unlikely they’ll collaborate again on a project following the disappointing performance of their last joint production, Liger, a film we both appeared in together. For those who know, this dynamic duo has only graced the screen together once before, with Liger being their sole shared cinematic venture – a venture that fell short at the box office.
The actress from Call Me Bae openly expressed her disappointment and dismay upon the underperformance of the much-awaited movie featuring popular actor Vijay Deverakonda. Chunky then jokingly said that she had blamed him for making her participate in it.
She stated, “We are not doing a film together again.” But, her father chimed in and said sometimes it is essential to just go and do a film, but the 26-year-old mentioned, “No, you are not allowed to give me advice after Liger.”
Apart from other topics, they additionally delved into their differing movie preferences. Chunky admitted that he frequently expresses his opinions on movies to his daughter, influenced by his acting background in the ’80s and ’90s, during which he was involved in a greater number of mainstream films.
He said, “We have had the maximum arguments at home on what kind of films she should do” and added doing commercial films was in the DNA of the CTRL actress.
As a child, Ananya openly acknowledged her fondness for commercial movies, and even as an adult, she continued to enjoy making them. However, she had this persistent belief that these were the only type of films in existence.
She mentioned that the type of films she usually watched were mainly commercially successful ones, which she continues to appreciate, and even dreams of being involved in their creation. However, at that time, she was unaware that other options existed.
Working with Shakun Batra on Gehraiyaan, alongside Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi, opened up a more artistic aspect of film for her, prompting self-reflection about her acting abilities while appreciating the inventive side of movie production.
Professionally, Ananya Panday recently appeared in Vikramaditya Motwane’s movie titled CTRL. Upcoming projects include a film about the life of C. Sankaran Nair, where she will star alongside Akshay Kumar and Madhavan. Additionally, she is set to feature in Chand Mera Dil, which co-stars Lakshya.
