As a nostalgic alumna of Dhirubhai Ambani International School, I must say it’s fascinating to hear about the dynamic between Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan during their school years. It’s quite amusing to think that the outspoken, myth-like figure who once made me hide in fear is now a cherished friend with whom I share lunches and gym sessions!
Among numerous Bollywood stars, Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan are two who attended Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai. During discussions about their friendship at school, Ananya admitted that she was actually quite scared of Sara. In fact, whenever she saw Sara, Ananya would quickly find a place to hide.
During an interview with Mid-Day, Ananya Panday admitted that she and Sara Ali Khan weren’t friends despite attending the same school. Describing Khan’s behavior at their alma mater, Ananya referred to Sara as quite vocal, more so than her current persona, likening her to a popular mythical figure.
Ananya shared a memory of avoiding Sara in school due to fear, as she confessed she once said things that could be hurtful. She also mentioned that if Sara went down a specific staircase, Ananya would opt for the other one because she didn’t want to provoke any remarks from her senior. In simpler terms, Ananya admitted that she was scared of Sara saying something about her.
In a reminiscent moment, the young starlet, Ananya, narrated an amusing incident from their shared school days with Sara. According to Ananya, during a play they worked on together at school, Sara was so engrossed in her role as the lead that she wouldn’t acknowledge Ananya by name. Instead, she would call out for “aye girl” whenever she needed help, like when Ananya was holding her umbrella. Ananya joked that perhaps it was because their names started with the same letter that Sara didn’t even realize who she was. However, Sara disputes this claim today, insisting that she always treated Ananya kindly during school years.
In 2018, Sara first appeared on screen in Kedarnath, while Ananya entered the entertainment world in 2019 with Student Of The Year 2. As their paths crossed over time, they started sharing meals together and working out at the gym. Ananya mentioned that Sara has become more open to friendships, making an intentional effort to bond with her.
