Andor Creator Would Retcon THIS Character Into Rogue One

A Star Wars Story”, a film that narrated the tale of the Rebel team who stole the Death Star plans prior to the events in “Star Wars: A New Hope”.

As a movie enthusiast, I’ve been consistently impressed with the Star Wars franchise, and the Diego Luna-led Disney+ series, Andor, has only solidified this feeling. Delving deeper into the world of Rogue One, this spin-off series brilliantly expands on Luna’s character, a Rebel spy we encountered in the 2016 film. Having had the privilege of immersing myself in the intricate tapestry woven by Andor, I now find myself reflecting on Rogue One. If given the opportunity to revisit that film, I would make one particular adjustment – a change that I believe would enrich the narrative even further.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Gilroy shared which characters from “Andor” he might consider incorporating into “Rogue One” if he had the current context.

In response to a question about potential characters from his Disney+ series to include in his 2016 Star Wars movie, Gilroy stated, “I definitely want Faye Marsay’s character, Vel, from the acclaimed streaming show.

The showrunner of Andor commented, “Consider Vel’s perspective on Jyn Erso.” He further stated, “I can only imagine the insightful remarks she might make about her.

I definitely prefer having Vel with us. Imagine the insightful analysis she’d provide regarding Jyn Erso! I can only imagine the sharp comments she might make. Jyn, indeed, seems capable of sparking Vel’s irritation.

Even though Vel significantly contributed to both seasons of the Andor series and her character had a heartbreaking (and potentially debatable) arc, she does not make an appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

In the heart of May, the thrilling saga that is “Andor” Season 2 unfurled on Disney+, marking the conclusion to Tony Gilroy’s riveting espionage tale set amidst the stars. As this chapter drew to a close, I found myself contemplating whether this would be the last dance for this talented storyteller within the expansive Star Wars universe.

Among the stellar cast gracing our screens were Adria Arjona as Vel, Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, Genevieve O’Rielly as Mon Mothma, and Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael. Both seasons of this critically acclaimed Star Wars series showcased their exceptional performances.

What Happened to Vel After Andor Season 2?

In simple terms, fans are eagerly curious about Faye Marsay’s character Vel following the conclusion of the Andor series on Disney+, given the complexity and intrigue she brought to the show, especially considering the exceptional talent of the entire cast.

In the early stages of the Rebellion, Vel began serving as a ground soldier. Her paths crossed with Cassian for the first time on Aldahni, where he was enlisted to join her squad for an Imperial robbery. This mission would mark the Rebel Alliance’s initial open act of rebellion against the galaxy’s oppressive leaders.

From that point onwards, she developed a rich narrative, as people became acquainted with her noble lineage, intricate love affairs, and unwavering loyalty to the Cause of the Rebellion.

The series has left Vel’s future hanging in the balance, as the last several episodes depicted her integrating among the Rebels on Yavin 4 and navigating through the bureaucratic system of the newly established regime.

If she had stayed during the events depicted in “Rogue One”, it is likely that she would have been thrilled to witness Andor and his group of rebels, under the command of Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso, defy the orders of rebel leadership and launch a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans on Skariff.

Indeed, considering her background in guerrilla warfare, it’s quite plausible that Vel could be aboard that same ship with the Rogue One team, assisting them in their selfless suicide mission.

Rather than leaving Yavin, it’s probable that she climbed the ladder of promotion within the Rebel Alliance, with the war intensifying significantly post-“A New Hope.
