Previously, he portrayed Peter Parker in two films titled “The Amazing Spider-Man” and subsequently appeared as the character in one of the largest MCU’s Spider-Man productions, “No Way Home“. More recently, Garfield has expressed his desire to once again step into the shoes of Spider-Man, albeit in a distinctive and “unexpected” project. This new direction for the character is depicted in the latest Spider-Man artwork, which sees him return as Peter Parker after many years have passed.
On Twitter, @comikztar envisioned how Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Peter Parker might appear in an Ultimate Spider-Man adaptation if paired with Felicity Jones as Mary Jane Watson.
In this unique spin on Garfield’s character, the fan art beautifully captures Peter donning a beard and glasses, reminiscent of one of Ultimate Spider-Man’s cover styles. This particular comic book series delves into a world where Peter received his powers at a more mature age and is married to Mary Jane Watson, sharing a family with her, consisting of two children. It’s intriguing that the fan art depicts Felicity Jones as MJ, although it was Felicia Hardy, portrayed by Jones in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, who made a cameo appearance as Black Cat.

For several decades now, the Spider-Man comic series known as The Amazing Spider-Man has sparked debates. A key editorial rule dictated that Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson could not be portrayed as a couple in the primary storyline, despite their relationship being a significant aspect of the Marvel universe. This decision has left many fans disgruntled, given the iconic nature of their bond. However, the Ultimate Spider-Man comics present an alternate universe where Peter and MJ are married with children, fueling fan speculation about a live-action adaptation.
Among the three live-action Spider-Man actors, Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker appears to be the best fit for a potential adaptation. In “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” it was hinted that he managed to make things work with MJ. Future Marvel Cinematic Universe films or new Sony Spider-Man productions might explore the possibility of Maguire’s Peter being married to MJ and having children. Andrew Garfield’s Peter could also find himself in a similar situation, but since “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” the loss of Gwen Stacy appears to have significantly affected his romantic life.

The Actor Could Pull Off This Version Of Spider-Man
I believe Garfield would excel as the live-action version of Ultimate Spider-Man’s Peter Parker, although I suspect Marvel and Sony might prefer Tobey if they ever delve into that. Not only does Garfield fit visually for the role, but his acting abilities demonstrated in films like “We Live in Time,” particularly his performance alongside Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova in the MCU, prove he can deliver a heartfelt portrayal of a loving father in an emotionally engaging story. If cast as Spider-Man, Garfield could be an excellent fit for Mary Jane Watson and a couple of children.
