Andy Richter Had A Wild Stipulation In His Scary Movie 2 Contract That Referenced His Cut Scene With Marlon Brando

Andy Richter Had A Wild Stipulation In His Scary Movie 2 Contract That Referenced His Cut Scene With Marlon Brando

As a lifelong movie buff, I can confidently say that Andy Richter’s Hollywood journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. His anecdote about working with Marlon Brando in Scary Movie 2 is a testament to the serendipitous nature of showbiz. It’s like finding a rare gem hidden within a pile of ordinary rocks!

It’s no wonder that Andy Richter, having traversed Tinseltown extensively, has crossed paths with numerous acting legends. Yet, when The Masked Singer unveiled his past collaboration with Marlon Brando, the legendary actor from The Godfather, I was taken aback and needed to dig deeper to find out when this encounter transpired. To my surprise, it turned out to be from Scary Movie 2. Luckily, Richter was willing to share his experiences and the unusual terms of his contract associated with that project.

I had the privilege of speaking with Richter following his appearance on The Masked Singer Season 12, which graced the Fall TV lineup. During our conversation, an incorrect guess led to a tale about him meeting Jay Leno in a diner. Our discussion then shifted towards Marlon Brando and Scary Movie 2. Initially, Brando was chosen for the role, but Richter eventually joined James Woods in the opening scene spoofing ‘The Exorcist’. However, Brando’s departure from the project due to health issues resulted in many scenes featuring him being removed from the final cut of the parody film.

Richter confirmed the experience was as surreal as it sounded when I asked about it, saying:

Indeed, I was astonished by it, and that aspect made me eager to work on the film. A particular part of the movie, which is merely four minutes long, expanded to around 40 pages due to the continuous addition of scenes, jokes, and more jokes without any cuts. It was an enjoyable experience making the movie, but it was also quite chaotic. The production team was under immense pressure because the first film had been successful, and they quickly moved on to the second one with little time left for The Wayans. Remarkably, we were still doing reshoots at the end of June, while the film was set to release on July 4th. In essence, it was a hectic production.

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but imagine how epic “Scary Movie 2” could have been if Marlon Brando was part of the cast. Despite his advanced age and health issues at that time, Brando is a cinematic titan known for his iconic roles in the ’70s masterpieces like “The Godfather Part II.” It’s hard not to wonder what it would have been like to see him bring his magic to the big screen in our favorite spoof horror film.

Andy Richter disclosed a particular scene from Scary Movie 2 and explained how it resulted in an unusual condition in his acting contract. The actor gave a general account of the scene, allowing readers to infer that there was an odd interaction between his character and Marlon Brando’s priest role.

There was one point at which there was supposed to be a simulation of, let’s say, an assault from the rear in which my eyes blinked like goat eyes. So I had to go get contacts made that were like goat eye contacts. And in my contract, it said something along the lines of that, ‘I will only allow myself to be portrayed as being sexually assaulted by Marlon Brando. If they recast that, whoever they recast could not sexually assault me, only Marlon Brando could.’ Somehow, I lost that contract. I don’t have it. And I wish I still had it because it was such a great artifact.

Although he might not possess the contract, Andy Richter’s tale is simply amazing and links it to one of the most remarkable actors of our time. If only the upcoming “Scary Movie 6” could strive for something equally impressive with another iconic actor, I believe it would leave audiences rolling with laughter. Yet, I understand how ominous it feels to utter the words “Marlon Brando hologram.

Both The Godfather and Scary Movie 2 are on Pluto TV.

Should Andy Richter find solace in this, his vomit-filled scene in Scary Movie 2, alongside James Woods and Natasha Lyonne, is undeniably one of the most striking moments from the film. The movie launches with an impressive bang, thanks to the hard work and determination of everyone involved who bravely faced the messy set for that unforgettable scene. I recently revisited this classic scene using my Paramount+ subscription.

In other words, since the segment was edited out and the agreement terminated, it seems that ‘The Masked Singer’ could have used it as a hidden clue regarding Andy Richter’s real identity, when he disguised himself as Dust Bunny on stage. It’s likely that many viewers discovered the peculiar link between these two actors, and I’m thrilled to have learned about the more intriguing tale behind this unusual event.

On Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, “The Masked Singer” is broadcast on Fox. As was mentioned earlier, you can watch “Scary Movie 2” on Paramount+ or Pluto TV. Don’t forget to tune in to either of these platforms to catch Andy Richter. Keep coming back to TopMob as we delve into Season 12 of “TMS” and share our reactions throughout the season.
