As an ardent follower of Bollywood and its intricate dynamics, I must confess that attending the Angry Young Men Screening was like stepping into the hallowed corridors of Indian cinema history. The event was a veritable who’s who of Bollywood royalty, and I felt like a star-struck fanboy, gawking at the likes of Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar, Sridevi’s darling daughter Khushi Kapoor, and many more.
Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, two renowned screenwriters from Bollywood, made a significant impact on the Indian film industry with their compelling scriptwriting. This dynamic duo collaborated on approximately 24 films, and an impressive 22 of these productions turned into box office successes. Regrettably, they eventually went their separate ways. However, Zoya Akhtar has now produced a documentary series that offers viewers a closer examination of their partnership. In anticipation of its release on Prime Video, a special, high-profile screening was held in Mumbai on August 19, the day before its official premiere (August 20).
At the Angry Young Men Screening event, several well-known personalities made an appearance. Among them was Khushi Kapoor, the daughter of Boney Kapoor and Sridevi. She opted for a casual outfit, wearing a white sweatshirt paired with burgundy cargo pants. To complete her look, she carried a handbag and wore white sneakers. Her makeup was kept subtle, while she styled her hair in a neat bun for the evening. For those who may not know, Khushi Kapoor made her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s OTT movie, The Archies.
Khushi was accompanied by her rumored partner, Vedang Raina. The handsome actor coordinated with his alleged girlfriend and arrived wearing a white t-shirt paired with black, distressed, baggy trousers. He completed his look with black and white sneakers and his charming grin, striking poses for the photographers. Interestingly, both Khushi and Vedang had acted together in the same teenage musical movie.
Following this, it was Sobhita Dhulipala’s turn in the spotlight, as she graced her first public event since her engagement to South actor Naga Chaitanya on August 8. At the screening, she donned a blue denim jumpsuit and complemented it with white heels. For the occasion, Sobhita chose a messy hairstyle.
Accompanying her was the handsome actor Riteish Deshmukh, who exuded charm in his laid-back outfit. The Kakuda actor paired his blue shirt with white trousers, adding a casual touch with sneakers and a white cap, while using the cap to keep his long tresses neatly in place.
The star writers, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, made their entrance at the screening of their new production. Accompanied by a loyal circle of companions and security, Salman Khan’s father was in attendance. Meanwhile, the venerable lyricist, accompanied by his beloved wife, actress Shabana Azmi, arrived together, Zoya and Farhan Akhtar’s father among them.
Actor-director Kunal Kemmu joined them, lending his support to the veteran screenwriters of Bollywood. He was casually dressed in a green T-shirt and beige cargo pants. The filmmaker added a touch of casual elegance with a white cap and slippers that matched his attire.
Shortly thereafter, Boney Kapoor, both a producer and an actor, made his appearance among the star-studded crowd during the screening of Angry Young Men. Clad in a comfortable brown kurta-pajama ensemble, he was accompanied by his daughters Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor.
On August 18, another special screening event took place in the city, where numerous young stars from Bollywood attended. Attendees included Salman Khan’s nephew Arbaaz Khan, Malaika Arora’s son Arhaan Khan, as well as Sohail Khan and Nirvan Khan – cousins of the former two.
Alizeh Agnihotri, the niece of Tiger 3 star Farrey and an actress herself, arrived fashionably at the gathering. She demonstrated her backing for Salim-Javed by donning a personalized t-shirt over a satin evening gown. The up-and-coming celebrities were accompanied by Rasha Thadani, daughter of Raveena Tandon, and trendsetter Uorfi Javed. Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, also made a smart appearance at the event.
