90-year-old Nirmal Kapoor, mother of actor Anil Kapoor, passed away peacefully in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after battling age-related health issues. Her demise has left the Kapoor family and numerous individuals from the film industry mourning.
Her funeral will take place on May 3. Upon her passing, Anil Kapoor was seen arriving at his residence with his mother’s remains in an ambulance, accompanied by his brother Sanjay Kapoor, sister Reena Kapoor, and nephew Arjun Kapoor. Shortly after, other family members, including Janhvi Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Shikhar Pahariya, Shanaya Kapoor, and Boney Kapoor, were also seen at the residence.
Several celebrities from the industry have visited to express their condolences and support the grieving family. Notable figures such as Javed Akhtar, Rani Mukerji, Jackie Shroff, Veer Pahariya, Orry, and Ananya Panday were among those who paid their respects.
It’s worth noting that prior to visiting the Kapoor household, Ananya Panday was seen on set, apparently trying to hold back tears. The actress, who enjoys a strong friendship with Shanaya Kapoor, seemed quite distressed by the news of her best friend’s grandmother’s passing.
Nirmal Kapoor, the beloved wife of the late esteemed producer Surinder Kapoor, was a devoted mother to four children – Anil, Reena, Boney, and Sanjay – and a grandmother to an impressive lineage of popular Bollywood stars such as Sonam, Rhea, Harshvardhan, Arjun, Anshula, Janhvi, Khushi, Shanaya, Jahaan, and Mohit, among others. Recently, the family had gathered to celebrate her 90th birthday with much joy. Anil Kapoor, one of her children, shared nostalgic photos with a heartfelt message expressing his gratitude for her love, strength, and sacrifices over the years. His words read, “90 years of love, strength, and endless sacrifices. Your presence fills our lives with joy and positivity every day. Blessed to be your child. Happy birthday, Mummy.”
Unfortunately, she has left a profound emptiness not only in the Kapoor family but also throughout the industry that cherished her elegance and fortitude following her passing.
