Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is closing down, but will remain available offline

  • Animal Crossing Pocket Camp will sadly close its servers in November
  • But it’s not all bad news as an update to make the game available offline is coming in October
  • It follows a wave of game closures this year that overshadows some great releases

As a longtime fan of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, I must admit that the news of its impending closure is bittersweet. On one hand, it’s always sad to see a game go, especially one that has brought so much joy and relaxation to countless players like myself. But on the other hand, I appreciate Nintendo’s effort to make the game available offline before it shuts down.

The mobile version of the highly popular Nintendo game series, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, is about to end. This year has seen an unfortunate number of mobile games being closed down, and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp’s servers will officially shut off on November 28th.

Great news for me as a gamer! Just like how Brave Nine by Neowiz offered offline play, it looks like Animal Crossing Pocket is going to follow suit. They’ve confirmed an update coming in October that lets us carry on playing the game offline. This is perfect timing before the game shuts down.

After the game is closed down, it’s uncertain exactly how you’ll be able to play it by downloading, but you can transfer your existing save file to the new version. This serves as a sobering thought about how quickly things can vanish, even in an abundant year for game releases.

Bye-bye Animal Crossing

It’s unfortunate when games cease operation, but I believe we should appreciate the recent decision to make these games playable offline. Although some may criticize games like Pocket Camp, the fact that the developers are putting in the effort to keep them functional even after server shutdown is noteworthy.

On the bright side, it’s great to note that the world of mobile game development continues to thrive. Yet, it may not be entirely reassuring given the number of games being shut down.
