As a long-time Marvel fan who has witnessed the evolution of Sam Wilson from The Falcon to Captain America, I am absolutely thrilled about Anthony Mackie taking on Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk in “Captain America: Brave New World”. It’s like a dream come true, seeing two iconic figures clash on the silver screen.
In the latest preview for “Captain America: Brave New World,” Anthony Mackie, portraying Sam Wilson/Captain America, engages in combat with Harrison Ford’s character, Red Hulk.
At the D23 Brazil fan gathering held on Saturday, the video (you see here) was revealed. The characters played by Mackie and Danny Ramirez, who is Falcon’s character, Joaquin Torres, were the ones who presented the trailer to the spectators.
In this movie, directed by Julius Onah, Ford portrays U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. He’s the one who wants to recruit Captain America for an official military role after becoming president. However, before Wilson can decide on this matter, he embarks on a mission to expose a wicked global conspiracy. The plot then leads him into conflict with Ross when he metamorphoses into the Red Hulk.
Mackie remarks in the preview, “It seems my close allies are in danger. Let me handle it,” to which Ford responds cautiously, “Be careful. You’re no Steve Rogers.” Mackie acknowledges, “You’re correct. I’m not.” (This version maintains the original dialogue but is rephrased for easier reading and understanding.)
In addition to Brave New World, we find Ramirez stepping into the role of Falcon, Carl Lumbly portraying Isaiah Bradley, Shira Haas bringing Sabra to life, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, Liv Tyler assuming the character of Betty Ross, and Tim Blake Nelson donning the mantle of Samuel Sterns/The Leader.
Mackie made his debut as Sam Wilson, better known as The Falcon, in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” He was presented then as a comrade of Chris Evans’ Captain America. Afterward, he featured in multiple Avengers movies and 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War” before headlining the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” which chronicled his transformation into Captain America.
Brave New World hits theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
