Following his announcement about departing Mumbai and expressing admiration for the Tamil film industry, Anurag Kashyap eventually bid farewell to the city of dreams. However, on April 17, 2025, the actor-director expressed on X (previously Twitter) that he may have relocated from Bombay, but his passion for filmmaking remains unwavering. Despite being occupied like Shah Rukh Khan, the creator of Kennedy revealed that he plans to work on almost five projects this year.

In his message, he wrote: “I’ve moved cities but I haven’t quit filmmaking. Contrary to what some might think, I’m still around and busier than Shah Rukh Khan (though I don’t earn as much). I don’t have any free time until 2028.

Kashyap continued, “I anticipate releasing five directorial projects this year, though it may be reduced to three now and two more in the early part of next year. My IMDb page is extensive, and I find myself turning down approximately three projects daily. So, for your consideration, I suggest you reflect on your own choices or, if adaptable, consider self-reflection.

In a previous conversation with The Hindu, the director of Gangs of Wasseypur shared that he aims to distance himself from the film community. He explained that the environment has become excessively harmful due to the relentless pursuit of unattainable goals, such as creating the next billion-dollar film. He lamented that the creative ambiance no longer exists.

He shared with The Hollywood Reporter India that due to losing the pleasure in filmmaking within Bollywood, he intends to shift towards the southern regions of India instead. “That is why I am planning to relocate,” he said, and indeed, he affirmed his plans to leave Mumbai by next year.
