The intimate wedding of Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli held in Tuscany sparked a trend of small-scale weddings across the country. Instead of focusing on hosting a lavish event for thousands, their ceremony was centered around them as a couple. As pictures from their special day circulated online, people were captivated by their understated elegance. More recently, Harshdeep Kaur, who sang at their wedding, revealed that the only instruction she received for their song was that “they see God in each other.
In an interview on The Music Podcast, well-known vocalist Harshdeep Kaur mentioned performing the wedding song “Peer Vi Tu” for Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, a track that was debuted on their first marriage anniversary. She added, “I was informed it is a love song, and the lyrics of the song symbolize what Virat and Anushka feel towards each other – they perceive divinity in one another.” Vishal Punjabi, who oversaw the production, advised Kaur to just immerse herself in these sentiments and sing them.
As a lifestyle expert, I find it fascinating that on the very same day I was recording “Peer Vi Tu” for Anushka and Virat, I also laid down the track “Dilbaro” from Alia Bhatt’s film Raazi. In addition to this musical journey, I reminisced about being part of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s beautiful wedding in Lake Como during our conversation that day.
As a devotee, let me share that Singh confides in me that he’s an ardent admirer of my favorite track “Ik Onkar” from the movie Rang De Basanti. Given his daily ritual of listening to it, he yearned for Harshdeep to perform the song live during their wedding ceremony especially for us.
On a special occasion, the actor from “Gunday” privately extended an invitation to the singer for their wedding through a message. In the message, he shared, “I start my day listening to your voice.” So, on this significant day of his life, he desired her to perform that song for them.
