Anushka Sharma’s Chakda Xpress delayed? Jhulan Goswami shares MAJOR update on her biopic

As a dedicated follower, I’m excitedly anticipating Anushka Sharma’s return to acting with Chakda ‘Xpress, a biographical movie based on cricketing legend Jhulan Goswami. Initially slated for a Netflix release in October 2023, the film has encountered some delays and, unfortunately, there’s no update about its new release date yet. Recently, Jhulan herself shared that she doesn’t have any news regarding the movie’s premiere.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, I, an ardent fan of Jhulan Goswami, was eagerly waiting for a release date update, but all she shared was, “I don’t have any such news and everyone seems to be calling me.” Later, she chose not to comment further on the topic.

Initially planned for a release in October 2023 through Clean Slate Filmz collaboration, Chakda ‘Xpress starring Anushka Sharma was almost finished except for some VFX work. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the project was put on hold due to disagreements in creative vision and budget issues between Netflix and Clean Slate Filmz, leaving its release date undecided as of now. No official statement has been made regarding this matter.

Titled “Chakda ‘Xpress,” this film is a unique take on the life story of cricket icon Jhulan Goswami, skillfully directed by Prosit Roy and penned by Abhishek Banerjee. To bring her character to life, Anushka Sharma is said to have undergone an arduous training regimen spanning over seven months following her maternity break.

Earlier, Netflix shared a glimpse of Chakda ‘Xpress, however, this wasn’t the full movie but rather a preview made before the pandemic as a look test.

Currently, Anushka Sharma, on Instagram, expressed a heartfelt note to her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli, upon his announcement of retiring from Test cricket. In her post, she mentioned that conversations would now revolve around the records he set and the milestones he accomplished.

Yet, she emphasized that she would always keep in mind the ‘unseen tears, hidden battles, and constant love he displayed for the sport’. The actress confessed that it had taken a toll on him, but also revealed that every test series helped shape him into a stronger individual. She considered witnessing his journey as an ‘honor’ or ‘privilege’.
