Apple Music Unveils New Culver City Studio Space

Apple Music has revealed a fresh studio close to its Culver City headquarters, a spacious 15,000-square-foot facility which the streaming service envisions as a versatile creative center. Here, musicians can expect to engage in radio discussions, compose and record fresh tunes, undertake photoshoots, and film video material.

This summer, Apple Music Studios will debut, providing a base for some of Apple Music Radio’s premier programming like Zane Lowe’s Show. While Apple hasn’t revealed the cost of building these studios, it’s clear that both construction and technology investment are substantial. The interior design reflects Apple’s signature style: rich wood floors, glossy black walls, and vibrant accents. Inside, you’ll find two expansive radio studios equipped with state-of-the-art spatial audio speakers integrated into the ceilings. These rooms also offer customizable lighting and display settings, along with cameras discreetly installed within the walls. The studios are designed to accommodate both interviews and exclusive, intimate concerts for a limited audience.

Apple Music’s leading executive, Oliver Schusser, shares that they aim to create an inviting space where artists, musicians, writers, or any creators can gather, collaborate, and produce content. It’s also a place for them to interact with their fans or other artists, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In essence, this is Apple Music’s take on the fusion of technology and artistic expression.

In addition to radio broadcasting areas, this structure includes a 4,000-square-foot stage designed for live events or screenings, a photography studio, and editing suites for content production. Notably, this facility also boasts an on-site room specifically for mixing spatial audio, aligning with Apple Music’s ongoing efforts to promote spatial audio within their platform.

Apple Music’s co-head Rachel Newman explains that they designed it to be incredibly versatile for any creative endeavor. She describes it as a blank canvas, allowing artists to bring their own unique creations to life. Radio has always served as a means for them to collaborate more closely with artists, and now, thanks to this new feature, artists will have the opportunity to do so much more, such as photography or scriptwriting. Apple recently revealed its state-of-the-art Apple Music Studios, and as part of the 10-year anniversary celebration for their service, they have planned unique programming for this week. The festivities start today with a special radio show called “Don’t Be Boring: The Birth of Apple Music Radio with Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden“, broadcasted on Apple Music Radio from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Pacific Time. In addition, Apple will be airing a special program commemorating 10 years of Apple Music until 4 p.m. Pacific Time.

Lowe and Darden are set to broadcast a live event today between 4 PM and 7 PM, showcasing a variety of musicians who have significantly influenced their platform’s path.

Beginning July 1st, Apple Radio will highlight the 500 tracks that have been streamed the most on Apple Music over time, wrapping up with the top 100 by July 5th. Apple Music subscribers will also receive access to a personalized replay feature, allowing them to discover their own top-streamed songs since they started using Apple Music.
