Apple Taps Artists Prince Gyasi, Ryan McGinley and Chen Man to Showcase the iPhone 16's Camera

As a gamer with over three decades of experience under my belt, I have seen technology evolve at a pace that would leave even the fastest-moving video game characters gasping for breath. The latest iPhone 16 Pro Max unveiled by Apple is no exception, and it’s the camera that has me truly intrigued.

Apple unveiled its new iPhone 16 series this month, and at first sight, it might appear that not much has been altered in terms of exterior design compared to previous iterations. However, Apple is placing a significant emphasis on improvements made within – particularly the smartphones’ camera capabilities.

Apple chose Kathy Ryan to gather three artists, Prince Gyasi, Ryan McGinley, and Chen Man, to display the superior camera capabilities of its new iPhone 16 Pro Max model. The outcome, titled ‘Chasing the Light’, was a series of exhibitions held in New York, London, and Shanghai last week, showcasing their artwork. For Ryan, this exhibition also represented her comeback to work following her retirement earlier this year, having spent 39 years at The New York Times, with 37 of those as the paper’s director of photography.

Titled ‘Chasing the Light’, this exhibit showcases both static and dynamic visual artworks that stem from a shared artistic journey delving into sunlight, shadows, and colors. The pieces displayed within the exhibition were all captured using an iPhone, as claimed by Apple, with no subsequent alterations made. Therefore, the images seen in the exhibit are the raw, unedited work of the artists.

You can check out the artists’ work now in the gallery above.
