Apple TV+ is going dark with its latest series order.
The broadcaster has approved a dramatic series, titled as yet, which features Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham. This gripping production pits a homicide detective against a notorious serial killer. The show is adapted from a popular crime novel series by Lars Kepler.
A crime drama starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham has been given the go-ahead by the streaming service. In this untitled production, we follow the intense battle between a homicide detective and a serial killer. The series is inspired by bestselling crime novels penned by Lars Kepler.
Rowan Joffe (“Tin Star,” “28 Weeks Later”) and John Hlavin (“Shooter,” “The Man Who Fell to Earth”) are taking on the role of adapting the books and will be in charge of the series as showrunners. Tim Van Patten (“The Sopranos,” “Masters of the Air”) is set to direct the initial two episodes and will also executive produce alongside Joffe, Hlavin.
Lars Kepler is actually a pseudonym used by the husband-wife duo, Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril. The upcoming series will be adapted from Lars Kepler’s Joona Linna series, with the storyline shifting the action from Sweden to the United States.
In this series, Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), a former soldier turned homicide detective who’s had enough of the harsh streets of Philadelphia, decides to settle in a peaceful small town in western Pennsylvania. However, his tranquil life and family are threatened by the malevolent serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham). As Jonah fights to safeguard everything he cares about, an unexpected turn of events forces him to put his adopted daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), in harm’s way when she confronts Jurek. Just how far will Jonah go?
Actor Schreiber is transitioning from his recent work on “The Perfect Couple” on Netflix. You’ll next see him in Darren Aronofsky’s film “Caught Stealing,” which hits theaters on August 29th. Meanwhile, Beetz (from “Atlanta”) lends her voice to “Invincible” on Prime Video and shared screen time with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in “Joker: Folie a Deux.” The Apple series represents Graham’s follow-up to Netflix’s hit “Adolescence,” and he also has a part in the Bruce Springsteen biopic titled “Deliver Me From Nowhere.
A+E Studios, working alongside Range Studios, is bringing forth this series. Joffe, Hlavin, and Van Patten serve as executive producers, while Schreiber, Beetz through her Sleepy Poppy production company, Lars Kepler (Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril), Oystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry, and Niclas Salomonsson also hold executive producer roles. Julie Herrin works as a co-executive producer for the project.
