2025 is shaping up to be an exhilarating year for any dedicated fan of the Law & Order universe! Not only are we anticipating the long-awaited multi-episode crossover between the original series and SVU this spring, but Organized Crime is set to make its comeback in mid-April, exclusively on Peacock. The return of Christopher Meloni as our favorite detective has certainly stirred up a lot of excitement, especially with his recent heartwarming photos alongside Mariska Hargitay. It’s been fascinating to see the responses pour in from fans, but my personal favorites have to be the playful tweets from Applebee’s and IHOP!
Meloni shared a pair of photos with Hargitay on his Instagram account, with a cute caption calling her out for not smiling in the first and then smiling in the second. As a fan of SVU going back longer than I care to admit and a viewer of Organized Crime from the beginning, I wasn’t surprised to see that these were the top comments with the most likes:
- leesaraej: “It’s time Elliot, go get your girl….. I’m getting OLD!!”
- sassenachhistorian: “When are Liv and Elliott gonna kiss?? It’s quite literally been more than 25 years”
I’ve never wished for Chris Meloni’s character Elliot Stabler and Mariska Hargitay’s character Olivia Benson from SVU to get romantically involved, but I understand why fans have kept hope alive for a relationship that’s been going strong for nearly three decades. Fans have had their hopes tested over the years, as there was even an almost-kiss between them a couple of years back. Remarkably, comments on both Hargitay and Meloni’s posts suggest that fans share similar sentiments about this potential pairing.
As I continued to browse through the comments, it caught me off guard to find that the pages for two eateries had chimed in with a couple of messages that were both oddly adorable and incredibly amusing. Have a peek:
- applebees: “how it feels with you @ihop”
- ihop: @applebees same bestie <3
The interaction between some Instagram accounts isn’t purely coincidental, because Applebee’s and IHOP are actually owned by the same parent company, which makes their friendly exchanges less surprising than if McDonald’s and Burger King were forming alliances or Coca-Cola and Pepsi were expressing mutual affection in Christopher Meloni’s comments.
Similarly, just like I enjoy reminiscing about the numerous actors who have reprised roles in the Law & Order series, it’s exciting to see how wide-reaching the fanbase for these shows is, particularly the dynamic duo of Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. Who knows? With any luck, fans might decide to watch the premiere of Organized Crime this year, perhaps even with a stack of pancakes or a plate of boneless wings!
Beginning in April 2025, the hit series “Law & Order: Organized Crime” will be exclusively streaming on Peacock TV. Already available on the platform are all previous episodes of “SVU”. Subscribing to this service starts from as low as $7.99 a month, and by upgrading to Peacock Premium, you can access ad-free streams and download episodes for offline viewing. Check out this great deal now!
It’s uncertain whether Meloni and Hargitay will act together before the end of the year, but since Organized Crime’s Season 5 debut is slated for April 17 (before SVU’s Season 26 finale), it’s possible. Frankly, I’m not hoping for a romantic connection, but I do enjoy watching their long-standing on-screen partnership in shared scenes. Intriguingly, The OC premiere is scheduled to air on NBC immediately after Law & Order and SVU, which makes me think we might see one of them appearing on the other’s show.
Currently, take a look at the promotion for season 5 of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” on Peacock. Here’s the list of new cast members joining Christopher Meloni as they transition from NBC:
1. John Ventimiglia as Alphonse “Sonny Burns” Tavarotti
2. Ainsley Seiger as Jamie “Axel” Romeo
3. Tamara Taylor as Assistant District Attorney Nadeem Mehta
4. Michela De Rossi as Detective Giulietta Kaminsky
5. Anthony Abdo as Richard Wheatley
6. Brent Antonello as Vincent D’Angelo
7. Sarah Fontana as Dr. Sophia Hawkes
8. Elliot Villar as Officer Bobby Burns
9. Kathryn Kelly as Lieutenant Anita Van Buren
10. Danielle Kelley as Detective Nina Crowley
Starting this week, each episode of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” Season 5 will be available weekly on Peacock. However, the premiere is set to air on NBC on Thursday, April 17th at its original 10 p.m. ET time slot as a prelude to generating excitement. It’s hoped that this will encourage fans to join Stabler and his team on Peacock. To get ready for the much-anticipated comeback, you can also catch up on the first four seasons on the streaming service beforehand.
