After spending more time on it than expected, I found myself quite addicted – so if you’re finding yourself stuck but can’t seem to progress due to bad luck or tough enemies, this guide might be just what you need. I’ve been in the same situation before and discovered a strategy that worked for me.
To start off, I’d like to provide you with a quick summary of our primary objective and aspects you should keep in mind throughout this process.
Archero 2 is progressively more difficult
Each stage you complete unlocks a tougher one, so you need to constantly upgrade your hero, unlock and upgrade new Talent cards, and get better equipment. The first chapter can be cleared pretty much on your first try without any gear, but to complete the second one relatively early on, you will need to get some decent gear and abilities.
In this manual, we’ll discuss the skills, attributes, and gear that suit your preferred gameplay style, providing an explanation of all other essential details.
Oh, and before we get started, it is F2P-friendly if you are willing to put in the work necessary to get the equipment and watch ads, but unlocking some of the new characters does cost some money. Don’t worry, though – there are some you can unlock for free. We’ll get to that later.
For now, let’s dive into the Archero 2 guide and share everything I’ve learned so far!
1 Tip #1 – Grind as much as you can
Progressing through the stages becomes crucial for success. You might find yourself at stage 4 or even 5 within the initial hours of play, and it’s suggested to do so if your schedule allows. The further you advance, the better the rewards for idle gameplay will be, which means more progress can be made even when away from the game.
To pave your way towards success from the beginning, aim to conquer at least the initial three (and if possible, even four) stages. This is where you’ll gain access to additional features and potentially enjoy slightly improved rewards. Should fortune smile upon you.
After completing some Stage 3 levels, you will also unlock new Characters.
How to grind better?
If you want to just grind for Gold, I recommend you go as far as you can in a stage, and try to get the lucky wheel. Chances are you’ll get Gold, and that will let you unlock more Talent Cards and gear upgrades.
You need to always have the best gear on, and more importantly, the right gear.
Every now and then, after implementing minor improvements, give it another go and advance gradually. Over time, as you continue to improve, you’ll notice the tasks becoming less challenging, signaling that you’re ready to move on to the next phase.
2 Tip #2 – About game progress
Advancement tends to be relatively gradual unless you happen to have particularly favorable skill sets. The success of your progress largely hinges on the kind and combination of abilities you acquire. It’s always beneficial to strive for a harmonious interaction between the equipment you choose and the skills you develop, in order to maximize their potential.
For example, as I prefer wearing Boots of Destruction, I’d rather focus on evading attacks frequently to set off their explosive effect more regularly. Each piece of equipment has a unique description like this one, so it’s essential to choose the gear that aligns with your preferred playstyle or select the appropriate abilities.
If you don’t receive a good set of skills initially, it’s advisable to restart in hopes of getting a rarer and potentially superior one instead of continually dealing with a common ability.
Another thing worth knowing is that if you want to progress, spending a few Gems on gear in the early stages is not that bad. If you have a lot of Gems, going for the Chromatic Chest could be good, since you get an S-tier Epic piece of gear within 50 pulls. However, I went for the Obsidian Chest, since stages reward you with Obsidian Keys, and that’s not too bad either.
Using a few exceptional equipment pieces significantly enhances your performance, but make sure not to deplete all your Gem resources within them.
3 Tip #3 – Unlocking more characters
As a gamer, I found myself unlocking new characters after conquering certain levels within Stage 3. To be honest, I breezed through the whole stage so swiftly that I can’t pinpoint which specific levels granted me these new companions. However, I can assure you that each of the available characters boasts unique abilities.
As a fellow enthusiast, here’s a tip for you: To get the most out of the free characters, it’s crucial to understand their unique abilities and the ideal gear sets for them. This will help you maximize their potential in the game!
How to unlock every character in Archero 2
Alex
Alex is unlocked by default, so all you can do is star him up.
Nyanja
In order to unlock this character, you will need 50 items, and it is available during Phase 2 of the Launch Carnival.
Helix
As a seasoned gamer, I found myself eagerly anticipating the moment when I could unlock Helix. To my delight, I discovered that this magical experience was within reach as soon as I accumulated 3000 precious Gems. Right there on the character list, I was able to click and unlock this captivating figure without any hassle!
Seraph
Seraph is a powerful character who costs about $30 to unlock. This is a premium character.
Dracoola
Dracoola is an additional high-end character that requires a purchase of $30 to access. This character naturally boasts a substantial amount of life-stealing ability, which makes him an excellent selection if you’re considering buying a premium character.
4 Tip #4 – Unlock and upgrade Talent Cards
Talent Cards serve a role similar to passive abilities, providing additional benefits for you. You can enhance these cards by acquiring multiples of them. The quality of these cards ranges from common to rare, with common being the simplest to improve upon.
As you buy more Talent Cards using Gold, the cost progressively increases, meaning a significant portion of your Gold will be used for these purchases. Over time, when you no longer have superior equipment to improve, you’ll find yourself exhausting all your Gold by drawing additional cards.
For now, it’s advisable to allocate funds as needed while ensuring you regularly improve your equipment. Improving your equipment should be your main focus during early stages because having strong statistics is crucial.
Once you have upgraded your gear, you can start drawing Talent Cards to complete your collection.
Each of these provides a benefit, and while you may initially think that the less rare ones aren’t useful, they actually are. Strength and Vigor are particularly advantageous as they increase your base Attack and Health points directly.
How to get more Talent Cards?
Other than from the classic Draw, there is no other way to unlock Talent Cards.
5 Tip #5 – Good stuff from the Shop & premium purchases
For F2P players
At The Shop, there’s a variety of excellent items to choose from. Particularly noteworthy are the ones located in the Daily Shop section. It’s here where you can discover character shards using Gems, assorted equipment, and Scrolls.
As a devoted fan, I’d highly recommend obtaining the Hero Shards as they play a crucial role in enhancing your heroes, whether it be Alex or any premium hero. The goal here is to strengthen your heroes and take your gameplay experience to new heights!
After that, you’re planning to accumulate Gems and unlock the Chromatic Chest. If you’re unsure if you can save them, or if you urgently need a better-quality equipment item, then opt for the Obsidian Chest (in case of emergency). Always avoid spending your Gems on the Silver Chest.
Premium purchases
Among many high-end options available, certain choices appear particularly beneficial. I suggest opting for the Great Value packs as they offer an abundant amount of Keys, Gems, Gold, and character fragments. If you’re considering a purchase, this option seems quite reliable.
Here’s another way of saying it: “Additional options that deserve mention are the cards. In total, there are 3 types: Permanent Ad-free Card, Permanent Supply Card (these two are bought only once), Monthly Card, Hunting Warrior Card, and Cave Explorer Card. These three cards are active for 30 days, after which you will need to buy them again.
I highly suggest obtaining the Permanent Supply Card as it grants you an immediate 3900 Gems and an additional 800 Gems daily upon login. Alternatively, the Permanent Ad-Free Card is a great choice because it enables you to claim items that would normally require watching ads, free of charge.
Among all the other cards, I particularly appreciate the Monthly Card due to its immediate reward of 500 Gems and additional 400 daily for a month. It’s an acceptable choice if you’re looking to accumulate some Gems to activate Helix or open the Chromatic Chest.
6 Tip #6 – Upgrade your gear
Equipment plays a CRITICAL role if your aim is to make any advancements. Here’s a breakdown of why it holds such significance:
Level up your gear
Each piece of gear requires a type of Scroll and some Gold to level up. You should always level up your gear before you spend Gold on getting new Talent Cards. Gear level gives you a lot of flat stats, which is what the multipliers in the abilities will boost.
Merge gear
Combine three identical items of equipment to boost their quality level. For instance, three white-level items become one green-level item, three green-level items become one blue-level item, and so forth. Ensure you upgrade as many items as possible by combining them until you reach the desired level.
Check for the right stats/skills
For every equipment item, there are unique base statistics and individual passive abilities. It’s essential to choose gear pieces that have compatible passive skills for your preferred weapon, and that harmonize with the playstyle or build you aim to create.
In my gaming world, since abilities are randomly distributed, I strategize on what I aim to acquire in each round, considering the gear stats I possess. For example, given that my boots enhance Dodge, I consistently prioritize a Dodge-focused build. When it comes to weapon selection, if I opt for a projectile setup (like arrows), I ponder over abilities that complement this style, such as those boosting projectile speed or damage.
7 Tip #7 – Complete your dailies for steady progress
As a dedicated player, daily tasks are an absolute must-do! They offer a generous haul of keys and gems upon completion, all in exchange for just half an hour of gameplay each day. If you’re playing for free, these daily activities become even more crucial to keep up with, ensuring you reap maximum rewards without breaking the bank.
Additionally, there are Weekly Quests and Achievements that function similarly to the Daily ones. The weekly tasks resemble the daily quests, and upon completing them all, you receive 2 Wish Coins. Once you accumulate 80 out of a possible 100 points, you’ll also get a key for a Chromatic Chest, which is essential for every player, whether they are free-to-play or not.
From my perspective, when you find yourself at a standstill and unable to advance regardless of your efforts, simply log in, complete your daily tasks, collect your rewards, and over time, you’ll accumulate enough Gems and keys for the next upgrade.
8 Other tips & tricks
- Always watch an ad to get some freebies. You can do it in the shop, gain free Energy (watch an ad and refill 5 Energy 3x a day), or even refill your Event Tickets.
- Make sure you merge your low-level gear. Merging will allow you to unlock higher-rarity gear much, MUCH quicker, so don’t forget to do that.
- Take part in the various events, from the launch events to holiday events. You can get tons of free Gems and keys just for playing – you don’t even have to spend a dime.
- If you have extra Gems, better save them to unlock Helix (3000 Gems) or save them to open 10x Chromatic Chests. This chest is where the good gear is at.
- When you need extra resources, just go to Hunt and select Quick Hunt for the last stage cleared for a few hours. This gives you a lot of EXP and Gold (and other items based on the last level cleared). You can be idle for a maximum of 24 hours and claim the reward.
- ALWAYS READ THE GEAR DESCRIPTIONS. I cannot stress enough how important this is. If you have two pieces of gear that don’t go well together, it’s time to change them. The gear’s max description is shown for the same piece of gear upgraded to S-tier Epic (Legendary). If you like a specific piece, then do all you can to collect dupes of its lower form and merge, merge, merge!
- In case you die during a boss fight or an important part of the stage, then just watch an ad and revive for free. It’s not worth spending Gems on revive unless you’re about to finish off a boss for the first time or you’re about to complete a major milestone.
