As a design enthusiast who has spent countless hours scouring the city for unique and innovative pieces to adorn my humble abode, I must say that the “Steel 00” Mirror collection by Archive for Space in collaboration with Béton Brut has truly piqued my interest.
Space Archive, a London-based space collaborating with fellow architect-led Béton Brut, unveils the “Steel 00” Mirror Collection. This collaboration introduces two innovative mirrors, labeled as Mirror 001 and Mirror 002. These mirrors are the latest additions to Arabella Maza and Stephen Maginn’s ongoing exploration with stainless steel, part of their continuous endeavors for Space Archive.
Crafted in Stoke-on-Trent, these new mirrors combine graceful motion and bold aesthetics. The first model, distinguished by its fabric-like flow, boasts rolled edges that let it hang from a pair of slender wires, creating an illusion of lightness. This versatile piece can be hung either vertically or horizontally, and can be suspended from either wall or ceiling. It is offered in four standard sizes, with larger sizes available upon request. A two-meter cable is included as standard.
Additionally custom-made, Mirror 002 delves into the techniques of slicing, shaping, and polishing stainless steel with a home environment in mind. Its naturally curved, kidney-like design contrasts the industrial essence of the material, while its projecting frame sports a brushed surface, providing a striking contrast to its dynamic outline. It’s crafted with multiple hooks that allow it to be hung in four distinct positions.
The mirrors from Archive for Space elegantly blend functionality and visual charm, making them a perfect fit in various settings. These mirrors serve as exemplars of the skillful craftsmanship and thought-provoking design that are hallmarks of Archive for Space’s creations. Prices start at £1,900 GBP ($2,411 USD) for Mirror 002 and £2,350 GBP (approx. $2,982 USD) for Mirror 001. These items can be inquired about through Béton Brut with an estimated delivery time of 8 to 10 weeks.
