As a seasoned gamer of the real-life drama that is “90 Day Fiancé”, I must say, the rollercoaster ride that Nikki and Justin took us on was nothing short of epic. It’s like they were playing a game of “Relationship Simulator” and forgot to save their progress.
From 2014 onwards, the popular TLC show “90 Day Fiancé” has been following numerous couples who have fallen in love across international borders. The series delves into their intricate stories as they endeavor to create their own fairy-tale endings. Many of these relationships encounter similar hurdles, both within and outside the partnerships, including managing the intricate immigration process, learning to appreciate each other’s unique cultural backgrounds in a new setting, and above all, trusting that the relationship would persist regardless of visa requirements.
However, it’s these unique trials faced by each couple that keep the show engaging even after all these years. They not only encounter typical hurdles but also personal struggles which may lead to significant damage at times. Interestingly, while some couples like Kyle and Noon manage to surmount their issues, others find it challenging to maintain their relationships. For instance, American singer-cum-model Nicole Sanders (alias Nikki Exotika) and her partner Igor Shutencov from Moldova were compelled to address the hard realities of their compatibility through a journey that demonstrated how deeply ingrained beliefs can be reshaped – albeit slightly – by love’s influence.
90 Day Fiancé: Who Are Nikki Exotika & Igor Justin Shutencov?
Nicole Sanders, more famously recognized by “90 Day Fiancé” fans as Nikki Exotika, and Igor Shutencov (also known as Justin Moldova) were a couple who featured in Season 10 of the original show. Before their TV appearance on TLC, Nikki, originally from New Jersey (who is transgender), had already established herself as a successful television personality, performer, and actor. Her first on-screen role was in the 2006 documentary “Transtasia,” which chronicled a transgender beauty pageant where she competed under the stage name Nicole Xtravaganza. Apart from reality shows like “My Trans Life” and “Jerseylicious,” she also appeared in dramas such as “Pose” and “Orange is the New Black.
17 years ago, she encountered “Justin” (formerly known as Igor), via a dating app from Moldova. Their lives were documented by cameras starting in 2023. Nicknamed “Justin Moldova,” reminiscent of Justin Timberlake whom Nikki says he resembles, the duo embarked on a passionate romance, leading to a proposal and the initiation of K-1 visa procedures for him to reside in the U.S. However, their relationship deteriorated swiftly when Nikki disclosed her transgender identity during an argument. Unable to accept this truth at that moment, Justin returned to Moldova, where he spent 15 years grappling with sadness and trauma over the breakdown of their partnership. Coincidentally finding themselves both single at a later time, they reconnected and quickly got engaged once more. Yet, their reconciliation did not necessarily indicate that Justin had resolved the problems that ended their relationship initially.
Nikki and Justin’s Huge 90 Day Fiancé Season 10 Fight Explained
Despite facing numerous issues such as infidelity, financial expectations, and mismatched sexual desires in their relationship, it was evident that Nikki Exotika and Justin Moldova’s fundamental problem stemmed from Justin’s struggle to accept Nikki as a transwoman. This became strikingly obvious during the reunion for “90 Day Fiancé” Season 10.
During the entire season, Justin behaved coldly towards Nikki and resisted her efforts at any form of intimacy. He accused her of being too masculine for his liking, which made him uninterested in her. At the same time, when they went out in public to enjoy the city’s nightlife, he would scold and emotionally abuse Nikki for drawing attention with her style and personality. It sometimes appeared that Justin might have been capable of maturing enough for a private relationship with Nikki, as he seemed attracted to her in some way (romantically, sexually, or financially). However, his deep-seated transphobic and homophobic beliefs caused him constant fear about how the world would perceive them being together as a transwoman and a cisgender man. This hurt Nikki more than anything else he did. It seemed that their reality TV existence only intensified Justin’s fears, leading him to abruptly end the relationship via text message after they (and the crew) left Moldova.
In simpler terms, when Justin criticizes Nikki, behaves disrespectfully towards her, and remains indecisive about reconciling with her despite having slept together after their breakup during the Tell All, Nikki has a breakdown. However, she manages to gather herself, thanks to her mother’s support, and finally shuts the door on any future they might have had.

At present, it seems like Nikki Exotika and Justin Moldova are still apart. Although there might have been some interaction between them following their heated argument during the “90 Day Fiancé” Season 10 Tell All, the intensity of Nikki’s anger at the end makes a reconciliation appear quite improbable. Moreover, the fact that they no longer feature each other on their Instagram accounts – after previously having a joint page – strongly suggests that they are not back together.
Apart from her involvement in Secret Girls, a pop group she leads, Nikki also capitalizes on the attention she gained from her “90 Day” appearance. Last October, she had an insightful chat with relationship coach Jake Maddock, sharing insights about her relationship with Justin and lessons that could be learned from the experience. Meanwhile, it appears that Justin, now likely known as Igor Shutencov full-time but still using his pseudonym online, is attempting to use his reality TV fame to build a career in business, travel, and lifestyle influencing.
