As a longtime fan of musical theater, I must confess that watching “Wicked” has been nothing short of a magical experience for me. The film adaptation, scheduled for release in 2024, has captured the hearts of millions, including its own cast members like the enchanting Ariana Grande. In fact, I’ve heard she’s seen the movie around ten times!
It’s not at all unexpected that the film adaptation of Wicked, slated for release in 2024 on Broadway, was a huge hit with many viewers, including its own cast members. Ariana Grande, who played Glinda, seems to be the biggest enthusiast of all – she’s watched the movie no less than ten times! The most entertaining viewing she’s spoken about involves her mom, and I can’t help but be intrigued by the story.
This morning saw the unveiling of the Golden Globe nominations, and Ariana Grande and her fellow artists were recognized with four nominations. Upon learning this news, Ariana opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about her movie-watching habits – revealing that she’s watched the film nearly a dozen times. As they spoke, she also recounted an endearing story about her mother’s reaction when Ariana took out her phone during a screening: her mom’s response was reminiscent of family dynamics.
I lost track of the number, but I believe I’ve seen it ten times now. When my grandmother and I visited Florida, I occasionally glanced at my phone, and my mom reminded me, “Ariana, put down your phone!” To which I replied, “Mommy, not only have I witnessed this, but I’m part of it!” I then explained, “I know what’s going on here. Let me just quickly check something that was recently sent to me!” She responded, “Ariana, you’re chattering away!
It’s wonderful that the singer appears deeply captivated by the world of Oz and seems to be thoroughly enjoying every bit of the first part (the movie Wicked: Part 2 is scheduled for 2025). Given that she’s gotten a bit confused about the number of times she’s watched it, considering both premieres and private viewings, it certainly makes sense as there’s plenty to keep track of.
In other words, despite my expectations based on her familiarity with the tale, Ariana Grande surprising me by being the one who disrupted family viewing time due to her own chatting or forgetting to turn off her phone during previews (or even the movie).
I prefer to believe she usually isn’t preoccupied with her phone during a movie, except for this instance. However, it’s worth considering if her mom and other moviegoers might share similar habits. It was good to see her mom intervene for everyone’s benefit, and it’s amusing to realize our family dynamics aren’t too dissimilar. I only hope no one missed any of the enjoyable moments because of the actress’s mistake or the striking dress she wears in the opening scene.
More on Wicked
As a dedicated gamer, I can imagine myself being part of the Wicked movie set crew, and here’s how I would rephrase that sentence in first person:
The play “Wicked” has received generally favorable reviews from both critics and audiences, but it has sparked a wide range of discussions, some sensitive and personal. One such discussion relates to the body image of the 31-year-old actress playing Glinda, which she tactfully addressed directly. Moreover, there’s been curiosity as to why the actress from “Zoolander 2” and her co-star, Cynthia Erivo, have been seen crying during the press tour. Ethan Slater, another cast member, provides insight into this matter. It appears that they genuinely care for their film, the Broadway production, and the book’s world.
I wish her video views keep climbing higher and higher, while Ariana Grande enjoys every bit of fun life has to offer as much as she can. Here’s hoping that at least a few more viewings involve her mom and grandmother, who provide the same level of humor as the one she mentioned – phone-free, naturally.
You can catch Wicked, as it’s playing in theaters nationwide right now.
