Ariana Grande “Likes” Post Mocking Carrie Underwood’s Inauguration Performance

Ariana Grande showed appreciation for an amusingly sarcastic Instagram post that poked fun at Carrie Underwood’s performance during the inauguration ceremony.

Carrie Underwood faced criticism when she chose to sing “America the Beautiful” at Donald Trump’s second inauguration ceremony on Monday. Known for avoiding politics in the past, Underwood had expressed negative sentiments towards Trump before, which left some of her fans taken aback and displeased by her decision. During her performance, the musical track accompanying her failed (as seen in the video below). After an uncomfortable minute of silence, she asked the crowd for help with the lyrics, then bravely continued to sing the song without any backing music. While Underwood’s unwavering professionalism was commended, some viewers took to social media to comment on her visibly strained performance.

One of the comments on social media, posted by internet personality Evan Ross Katz, involved a photo of Vice President Kamala Harris appearing to watch Carrie Underwood’s performance at the inauguration. The caption read: “Kamala Harris channeling Coco Montrese (telling someone to ‘find the note’) during today’s emotional inauguration,” which is a reference to a moment on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ where Montrese criticized another contestant’s singing performance.

Grande Liked the shade-tossing post, which was then screen-grabbed by outfits such as Buzzfeed.

Earlier, Grande had shown support for Harris. However, following Trump’s victory in the November elections, Grande expressed her feelings on Instagram stories, saying “I’m holding the hand of everyone who feels the immense weight of this result today.

At the inauguration, Underwood shared her feelings about performing with this message to her fans: “I hold deep affection for our nation, and I feel privileged to have been chosen to sing there, contributing to such a significant occasion. I am profoundly moved to take part at a moment when we should all unite in unity and look forward.
