As a lifelong music and film enthusiast who grew up idolizing the likes of Ariana Grande, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of excitement at the prospect of her potential performance at the Oscars! If Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are indeed set to perform together at this prestigious event, it would be a dream come true for countless fans like me.
As a dedicated Ariana Grande fan, I’m thrilled to embark on her awards season adventure! It all started with a prestigious nod at the Golden Globes, and now, her sights are firmly fixed on the Oscars.
Ariana Grande was nominated for her initial Globe Award (in the best supporting actress category) for her role in Wicked, and she’s a strong contender for the same category at the Oscars in March. Despite the fact that the famous songs from Wicked aren’t eligible for the best original song award (where all five nominees are typically performed during the Oscars broadcast), would Grande and her co-star Cynthia Erivo, as the leads of one of the most prominent films (and biggest Broadway musical adaptations) of the year, consider performing at the awards ceremony?
Grande expressed to The Hollywood Reporter at the Golden Globes First-Time Nominee Celebration that she enjoys singing with others, stating they could perform together just about anywhere, anytime, especially in honor of ‘Wicked’. Erivo is also a Golden Globe nominee and has been generating significant Oscar buzz for her portrayal of Elphaba. To put it simply, Grande considers Erivo as her sister, and if the opportunity arises, they’re ready to perform together.
At the Beverly Hills luncheon, Ariana Grande was joined by her mother Joan Grande. She posed on the red carpet with fellow nominee Zoe Saldaña. The actress also took a moment to ponder the heartfelt reception that the movie has received – a sequel titled Wicked: For Good is set for release next year. She expressed gratitude for hearing the responses from those who have watched it.
Imogen Heap, who I’ve admired musically since my childhood, expressed her appreciation for something after watching it with her daughter. That was thrilling news! We even got the chance to meet Steven Spielberg, an encounter that was both awe-inspiring and humbling. He was exceptionally gracious, making the experience all the more exhilarating. It’s incredible to look up to figures in music and cinema, and then have kind words about your work spoken by them is truly a unique and memorable moment.
The pre-January 5th Golden Globe ceremony was graced by attendees such as Adam Brody, Pamela Anderson, Kathryn Hahn, Mikey Madison, Hiroyuki Sanada, Cooper Koch, and Kris Bowers. Notably, the production company behind the Golden Globes, Dick Clark Productions, is owned by a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge, which also happens to own The Hollywood Reporter.
