Production on Arjun Kapoor’s upcoming movie “Mere Husband Ki Biwi” was moving smoothly until a regrettable event caused it to temporarily stop. The set’s ceiling caved in, resulting in minor injuries for Arjun Kapoor, his co-star Jackky Bhagnani, and director Mudassar Aziz.
While I was engaged in capturing a tune at the Imperial Palace’s Royal Palms, located in bustling Mumbai, an unexpected incident took place. It appears that vibrations from the powerful music echoing within the aged hall may have caused the stage to quiver and ultimately, the ceiling to crumble under pressure. Remarkably, our team and I escaped without suffering severe harm.
According to Ashok Dubey, speaking on behalf of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), an actor from 2 States suffered injuries to his elbow and head, and one of the directors of photography fractured his thumb in a recent incident. A camera assistant also experienced a non-critical spinal injury during the same event.
Vijay Ganguly, the choreographer present during the unfortunate event, spoke to ETimes about his experience. He mentioned that the initial day of filming the dance scene progressed smoothly, but the second day saw a significant shift in events.
He shared with the media that at the moment we were watching, quite unexpectedly, part of the ceiling gave way. Ganguly disclosed that there was a “trench” they could take refuge in to avoid getting hurt by the falling debris. While some individuals did sustain injuries, had the entire ceiling caved in, the situation would have been far worse.
He pointed out that these historic sites are frequently utilized for filming, and it’s our responsibility as production companies to verify safety precautions are in place. Regrettably, on occasion, the property may not be thoroughly inspected, resulting in unfortunate incidents like the one that occurred.
Ashok Dubey additionally corresponded with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and BMC about this issue, emphasizing safety issues. Furthermore, he mentioned to the media that the Fire Department had also been notified about the matter, and they confirmed that Chitrakoot’s structure only has a permit for 90 days, but it continues to stand.
