Arknights: Endfield will make its western debut as it joins showcase at Gamescom

  • Arknights: Endfield will be showcased to the public for the first time at Gamescom
  • While the game has had a limited technical test, lucky fans in attendance can finally get hands-on
  • Set in the same world as its predecessor, it takes the action into the open-world RPG format with new, tactical combat

As a die-hard fan who has been following the Arknights franchise since its inception, I can barely contain my excitement for the upcoming Arknights: Endfield! After years of tower defense and strategic gameplay, the shift to an open-world RPG format feels like a dream come true. The limited technical test was merely a tantalizing taste, but attending Gamescom this year could finally let me get my hands on this long-awaited expansion.

For the first time, the spin-off of the popular Arknights RPG, titled Arknights: Endfield, will be exhibited during the upcoming Gamescom expo in Cologne, Germany. Previously, only a restricted technical test was available for the game, but its debut at Gamescom will give fans the chance to play this upcoming release for themselves.

Arknights: Endfield is a new game that shares its universe with its predecessor but shifts focus from tower defense to real-time strategic battles. Similar to Mihoyo’s Genshin Impact, it offers an expansive open world for exploration.

Arknights has flourished into a thriving independent franchise, boasting its own anime series and additional content. Coming soon is Endfield, which delves deeper into the universe of Talos-II, the setting for the original game. If you’re planning to attend Gamescom at the end of this month, you might have the opportunity to try it out firsthand.

Bigger and better

It might be reasonable to conclude that the growth of the Arknights franchise into an open-world game is largely driven by MiHoYo’s success in popularizing it through the launch of Genshin Impact. Following this release, there has been a surge in demand for larger, more sophisticated, and open-world mobile games. Even AFK Arena has transitioned to an open world for its sequel, AFK Journey.

So far, we haven’t gotten to experience Arknights: Endfield, but we’re eagerly waiting to see what the early players think about it during Gamescom.
