Armie Hammer to Star in ‘The Dark Knight’ From Director Uwe Boll

I, Armie Hammer, am preparing for a return to the spotlight, given the challenges my career faced in 2021. It seems this path towards a comeback aligns with the cautious approach major studios and directors might have when considering me again. Interestingly, I’m collaborating with the notorious B-movie director, Uwe Boll, on an exciting project that will lead me to Croatia.

According to reports, Daniel Craig (Hammer) will spearhead the production of “The Dark Knight” by Boll, which is a gritty thriller about a vigilante character that Hammer will portray. The filming for this project begins on January 27 in Croatia, and it marks Hammer’s return to acting after his stint in the western movie “Frontier Crucible” alongside Thomas Janes and William H. Macy. Hammer has hinted that his acting career is gaining momentum again, with opportunities coming so frequently that he’s even started turning down roles.

1. “I’m finding myself with many invitations for dancing lately. Rejecting a gig after four long years felt like an incredible relief and joy.”

2. “My dance schedule is filling up rapidly. The first job I declined after four grueling years, it was the most liberating moment I’ve ever experienced.”

3. “I’m getting booked for more dances than usual. Turning down a gig after four long years in this business gave me an unparalleled sense of freedom and euphoria.”

4. “My dance calendar is becoming quite busy. The first opportunity I passed up after four challenging years, it was the most exhilarating feeling I’ve ever known.”

In his original script, Boll created the plot for “The Dark Knight“, which focuses on the character Sanders (Hammer), who resorts to self-justice in his relentless pursuit of would-be criminals. As a vigilante, he is idolized by the public, yet viewed as an annoyance by the police. Regarding this project, Boll expressed, “The tale of The Dark Knight couldn’t be more relevant, and I can’t wait to breathe life into it with this outstanding cast.

Armie Hammer’s Career Was Once Very Promising

Despite the fact that Armie Hammer seems content with his recent work, it appears quite a departure from the path he was previously treading. He garnered attention for his performances in David Fincher’s film, “The Social Network,” where he played the Winklevoss twins, and continued to impress in Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me by Your Name.” Hammer also featured in big-budget productions such as Gore Verbinski’s “The Lone Ranger” alongside Johnny Depp and Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” with Henry Cavill.

2021 marked a significant downturn in Hammer’s professional trajectory as multiple women accused him of various forms of abuse. Despite his denials, leaked messages suggested a man who sought absolute power over his female companions and harbored unusual interests such as cannibalism and branding. The allegations led to Hammer withdrawing from numerous projects, including the film “Shotgun Wedding” with Jennifer Lopez, and his dismissal by both his publicist and talent agency. However, by 2023, the Los Angeles County District Attorney chose not to pursue charges against Hammer for sexual misconduct due to a lack of substantial evidence.

Regarding Uwe Boll, it’s worth noting that “The Dark Knight” will be his 37th full-length film. This director gained recognition in the 2000s for transforming video game series into films, but unfortunately, his movies were often met with both critical and financial flops. Yet, there has been a particular audience who appreciate Boll’s work, finding enjoyment based on their “so-bad-it’s-good” perspective. After retiring from directing in 2016 to focus on restaurant management, he returned to filmmaking in 2022 and continues to finance his films through his businesses, Boll KG and Event Film Productions.
