As Love Is Blind Celebrates Five Years On Netflix, Nick And Vanessa Lachey Talk About How Their Roles As Hosts Have Changed Since The First Season

Fans of “Love Is Blind,” it’s hard to believe that five years have passed since the show first aired on Netflix! As we eagerly await Season 8 in 2025, Nick and Vanessa Lachey continue to serve as the series’ hosts throughout the unique social experiment. In an exclusive interview with TopMob, the beloved couple reminisced about their experiences hosting the show since its debut.

In their role as hosts for the dating series, the Lacheys tend to keep a distance. I’ve often wondered which aspect of the production they find most thrilling from their point of view. Here’s what Vanessa Lachey shared in our conversation about it:

Working with Nick makes it an enjoyable experience as we delve into various topics. It’s a unique blend of business and pleasure that sets our involvement in Season 1 apart from Seasons 2 through 8. What’s more, we’ve had the opportunity to develop our roles in the show, tackling challenges like The Ultimatum and for him, The Perfect Match. So, collaborating with him on this Netflix journey has been an exciting ride!

It’s no wonder she responded as such. More than anything, Vanessa Lachey enjoys collaborating with her husband on the reality TV show set. What struck me most about her response was their decision to take a step back starting from Season 1. I hadn’t realized (or perhaps I had forgotten) that this couple would interact with contestants during the first season’s dates and offer them some guidance in between.

When the Lacheys withdrew from the show, it seems their departure may have resulted in lower performance on the show, largely due to the desire for more backing for the contestants. It appears plausible that they chose to step down in order to devote more time to creating additional dating series for Netflix, such as Vanessa Lachey’s role in The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On (which we had varying opinions on Season 2) and Nick Lachey hosting Perfect Match (which we thoroughly enjoyed). Here’s what Nick Lachey had to say about it:

I believe that some of the shows you oversee don’t seem like work, but this one is different. It’s incredibly rewarding for us as a team to witness other couples connect. In fact, 13 marriages in seven seasons! While it’s an excellent program, the heartwarming aspect of it is even more delightful. To be part of bringing together couples who might not have found each other otherwise in real life… that’s truly unique and special.

The Lacheys have stayed committed to the show “Love Is Blind” for a single reason – their unwavering love! Despite some ambiguous outcomes from the experiment, they derive joy from watching it unfold. Vanessa Lachey added this perspective as well.

In our recent meeting with creator Chris, he shared some fascinating insights about their shows. The most-watched scripted series is Bridgerton, followed by their top unscripted show. Moreover, an article I read mentioned that this is their longest-running original series. We continue to be amazed and overwhelmed by its success. The fans have truly elevated it to extraordinary heights. The pod squads are like explorers venturing into a realm of this incomprehensible phenomenon. Essentially, the heart of it all can be summed up in this phrase: “everyone yearns to be cherished for who they truly are inside.” This sentiment has been the driving force behind their achievements. Everyone finds something they can identify with, strive towards, and ultimately long for that deep, fulfilling love and a happy ending. As we watch the show, our engagement becomes deeply felt.

Isn’t that astonishing? Over a span of five years, “Love Is Blind” has soared to become one of Netflix’s most successful series yet, and it continues to hold its popularity as the current season tops the Top 10 list. Despite the chaotic nature of the previous season, I find myself more tentatively hopeful about the experiment with this new one.

Since the couples have left their isolation pods after getting engaged, it will be intriguing to find out what happens next, as they embark on their vacations and begin cohabiting. Tune in for more episodes airing this coming Friday!
