As Someone Who Never Played The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, I’m Excited to Try the Remaster

Indeed, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is no longer a mere rumor but a tangible reality. Bethesda indeed stealthily released the game for gamers to immerse themselves in immediately. Who wouldn’t want instant access to a game as soon as it’s unveiled? Although there was much buzz and speculation before, now everyone can simply stop talking and start playing instead.

For someone like myself, a novice to Oblivion, the fresh content has certainly piqued my interest. Could this be the perfect moment for me to embark on an adventure with Oblivion?

Back in the past, Skyrim didn’t really appeal to me; it wasn’t quite my style of game. I’m not sure if Oblivion will be any different, but there are other fantasy games that I loved for their enchanting atmosphere and captivating storylines, such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Dragon Age: Inquisition. With the latest upgrade to Unreal Engine 5, Oblivion looks more stunning than ever before.

To be completely honest, there’s a part of me that’s anxious about how The Elder Scrolls V: Oblivion will run on my system. As I type this, I’m still in the midst of downloading it, and at 123.0 GB, it’s quite a hefty file! So, you might want to free up some storage or consider uninstalling that game you rarely play which takes up so much space.

It’s interesting to note that Oblivion appears to not utilize the same Creation Engine as Starfield. I can’t help but ponder the reasoning behind this choice, considering that the Creation Engine is highly appreciated by the modding community for its expansive customization options.

Regrettably, since I’m joining the bandwagon of appreciation for Oblivion quite late, I won’t encounter the original game’s quirks and awkward dialogues unless I opt for the classic version. After more than a decade of laughing at those memes, it’s somewhat bittersweet to realize that the game’s distinctive oddities might no longer be present.

At the moment, my download of Oblivion is stuck at 20%. Frankly, I don’t mind being called a novice, but this might be the first Elder Scrolls game I complete before the sixth installment arrives. Honestly, I wasn’t even aware that Patrick Stewart was part of it, and I’m quite the fan.

What now? Well, waiting for the game to finish downloading seems like a good place to start.
