ASICS’ Sales Soar to Record Heights in FY2024

In the heart of gaming world, I can’t help but share some exciting news! As I was immersed in my latest virtual adventure during the financial results briefing for the year ending December 2024, ASICS took a giant leap forward. For the first time ever, they smashed their sales, operating profit, and net income records, making this gamer’s heart pound with anticipation for what they’ll conquer next!

The Japanese sportswear brand experienced a significant surge in sales, rising by 18.9% to reach approximately 678.5 billion Yen, and its operating profit soared by an impressive 84.7%, marking the first time it exceeded 100 billion Yen. Additionally, net income increased by 80.9% to reach around 53.8 billion Yen.

According to their categories, ASICS has made significant strides in areas like SportStyle and Onitsuka Tiger, which play a crucial role as the company’s second main source of income after Performance Running. In the past year, these two sectors generated approximately 100 billion JPY each in net sales. It’s worth mentioning that Onitsuka Tiger experienced a 58.3% increase in net sales compared to last year, and boasts a profit margin of 34%. This makes it the most lucrative category for ASICS.

The “Core Performance Sports” category, featuring goods designed for tennis and indoor athletics, experienced a surge in sales by more than ten percent across various international markets. With this expansion, the company’s president, Tominaga Mitsuyuki, emphasized their focus on tennis due to its numerous prominent players. He added that tennis is a versatile lifestyle sport suitable for both kids and adults, and in recent times, pickleball and padel, sports resembling tennis, have gained popularity in North America and Europe. The president believes there remains potential for further growth in these areas.

By 2025, ASICS intends to set up a foundation of their own. This foundation will help construct sports facilities worldwide and distribute athletic gear to diverse communities. Their goal is to increase accessibility to sports by offering assistance to organizations that cater to individuals facing social or economic hardships. The aim is to tackle issues related to exercise and sports participation, ultimately enhancing the physical and mental well-being of a large number of people.
