Is it your assumption that Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers a multiplayer mode? While it is a fair question, let me clarify that the game might not include the multiplayer feature you are inquiring about.
In a fantastical setting of feudal Japan, it’s almost unbelievable that you can control not one, but two distinct characters: the elusive ninja Naoe and the formidable samurai Yasuke, each exploring this era separately.
Assassin’s Creed has a history of incorporating multiplayer elements. A standout feature of the controversial AC Unity was its cooperative mode, allowing up to four players to collaborate on missions together.
So does Assassin’s Creed Shadows have co-op? Well, time to find out.
Is There Co-Op In Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, there isn’t any multiplayer feature currently available. While it’s possible that Ubisoft might introduce one with an update down the line, as of now, they haven’t given any indication about it, so we can’t expect it anytime soon.

The pairing of Naoe and Yasuke as characters in the game appears harmonious, but it seems Ubisoft decided against cooperative play for a reason. For one, it’s noticeable that the characters were not designed to engage with each other extensively. This is evident when considering unique missions only accessible by either Naoe or Yasuke individually.
In addition, the cooperative mode within Assassin’s Creed Unity was plagued with glitches and problems. Admittedly, this could be applied to the entire game at its launch in 2014. Although Ubisoft addressed most of these problems, the negative impact lingered, as Unity continued to be seen as a heavily flawed game among gamers, even though it improved significantly once the main issues were rectified.
As a devoted gamer, I can vouch for the fact that cooperative play in Ubisoft games is an absolute blast, and nowhere is this more evident than in the Far Cry series. Each sandbox in the franchise is expertly filled with mayhem, making it a challenge they execute flawlessly. However, when it comes to Assassin’s Creed, it appears that Ubisoft Québec saw the task as a formidable one, choosing not to delve into it initially.
