Audi Unleashes Bold Q6 e-tron Offroad Concept

Over the thrilling weekend of the Kitzbühel World Cup, I got a sneak peek at Audi’s mind-blowing Q6 e-tron offroad concept! This badass prototype is all about reinventing electric off-roading capabilities. The design is daring and futuristic, giving us a glimpse of what Audi’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) could truly achieve.

Powered by two electric motors totalling 380 kW, the Q6 e-tron offroad concept showcases innovative portal axles that allow it to traverse slopes as steep as 45 degrees (100% gradient). Audi’s CEO, Gernot Döllner, described the model as a “passionate reimagining of quattro,” stressing its significance in expanding the limits of electric mobility, not just on paved roads but also off-road.

This off-road model boasts a significant 6.3-inch rise in ground clearance and a broader 9.8-inch track width, making it imposing and incredibly capable on rough terrain. Audi’s unique portal axle technology amplifies wheel torque by half, delivering an impressive total of 9,883 lb-ft. While the vehicle’s maximum speed is capped at 108 mph to focus on off-road prowess, it masterfully navigates challenging landscapes with effortless grace.

Based upon the same foundation as the forthcoming Audi Q6 e-tron production models, this off-road concept provides a glimpse into Audi’s forward-thinking approach to an innovative electric off-road segment. The Q6 e-tron series is anticipated to deliver impressive driving distances, rapid charging, and efficiency, with the goal of establishing a new standard for electric vehicles. This Q6 e-tron off-road concept will unveil itself to the public on February 1, 2025, at the FAT Ice Race.
