Initially, a casual Google search for the release date of Avowed inadvertently displayed an image of Indian politician Nitin Gadkari waving to the camera, as first noted by GamesRadar prior to its launch.

It remains uncertain as to why India’s Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Gadkari, became linked to the Obsidian-made game, but fans of Avowed have accepted this oddity, affectionately referring to him as “John Avowed.” Now that the game is fully playable, they are crafting a version featuring him.

Is it possible that the person being referred to is unaware of his iconic reputation, which some have humorously described as ‘the man, the enigma, the idol’?

We’re confident he doesn’t understand, but either way, he’s been elevated to the rank of an icon associated with (Insert Franchise Here) featuring John characters, such as Keanu Reeves’ John Wick or Master Chief. The origins of the “John” meme are disputed, with some attributing it to Keanu Reeves’ character and others to the character known as Master Chief, whose real name is also John.

Regardless of the context, John Helldiver, John Warhammer, John Metroid, and now John Avowed have all emerged as significant figures within various gaming franchises. Last year’s sensation, Helldivers 2, introduced us to John Helldiver, who was later confirmed as a canonical character in an update.
